Well the fun continues. One of the many weird things I've done over the years as a sculptor is design and produce awards. This week's kaleidoscope happens to be an award that I created on behalf of the Grand River Film Festival several years back. It went to director Bruce McDonald.
This design features a stack of fused glass that twists and turns it's way up from a granite base. On the base is the printed logo with a superimposed fractal. The barrel of the scope is sitting inside the twisted glass stack, and is composed of a clear glass tube with handpainted silk which contains the mirror system. This whole piece, including the uppermost coloured "wings" can be lifted out and viewed. The coloured glass wings at the end can be turned to provide endless interesting compositions of colourful brilliance.
Have any of you received any interesting awards? Do tell! I'd love to hear about it!
Nice piece of art!

Ones awards are more of the knowing of the things unseen haha!, but this is Amazing I love everything about the design.

Hi @stonemaiden, I just discovered your profile on Steemit from some of the other people I follow here. I haven't received any interesting looking awards, but I have received an award for outstanding contribution to the school even though I have never represented the school in any competitions (it's a long story but it did leave everyone scratching their head, myself included). So I don't know if an award with an interesting story counts :p
Thanks for checking in @plushzilla! Great to hear your award story. Honouring people is important, and every contribution is a blessing. Good for you! Of course your story counts!
Great work!!!!:-)
Such a wonderful piece. I love the spiraling of the shapes around the central core. Beautiful circular movement from above. 🦋
Thank you! Glad you like it!
