Inktober Day 15: Weak

in #art6 years ago

Definitely some odd topics on #Inktober, but then they can inspire all sorts of ideas in people. This made me think about my right hand. A few years back I noticed some issues with it and a specialist diagnosed an issue with the nerves that means the muscles have wasted somewhat. This doesn't hamper me much in general life, but it does make it a little harder to hold a guitar pick.

I resorted to the old trick of drawing around my hand. That doesn't quite get the shape right, but it's not too bad. I then added the rest of the detail using my left hand so I could be looking at the right. I may need to learn to use my left hand more if this gets worse. I'm seeing the specialist again soon, so we shall see what he says. We tried some treatment before, but it didn't make much difference.

Weak

You can see that this hand is a little thin. The muscle over the thumb is pretty much gone. I know others suffer much worse ailments, so I don't feel too sorry for myself. Yes, I did have a chocolate bar just now.

Actually a very touching drawing! the best you made yet.

Cheers. I just go with what feels right

Really interesting to see how many different things the word for today inspired! One of my collegue (when I worked in the office) had a similar issues with his hand. He was (and he is) an excellent piano player and he used to do some exercises to "help" that hand. When I met you at the steemfest I noticed your hand (just because hands are the first things I noticed when I meet a person for the first time ^_^) and I thought it was similar to the hand of my collegue.

I'm no pianist, but I have played a bit. It's hard now as I can't spread the fingers of that hand much. It's fortunate that I can still play guitar.

I agree with @katharsisdrill, one of your best thus far. It has an innocence and purity of line that I like.

Thanks. I really value comments from artists. It's not what I would consider my best, but maybe it's not always the obvious that stands out.
