Negative space: the artists' nightmare ^_^
Negative space is a black and white/pen and ink technique I love to fool around with. I call it an artists' nightmare because for enough people this is one of the hardest techniques to do. (and many artists I know just hate linework in general and I personally don't blame them)

Negative space is kinda my "doodle" style.
For those of ya telling yourself "oh that's easy", yes, it can be, but it's also tedious, and can either be overdone, or end up becoming what we know as linework.
For a real "comic" feel it has to be done in such a way that it makes things POP so to speak. I know I'm not there 100% but I do enjoy making those dynamic comic panels shall we say
As for backgrounds in this negative space, I'm terrible, and I'm still working on it! But as they say, Practice makes Perfect!

And this giant dog was modeled after my own pupper :3
Eventually I'll start posting tutorials, how-tos and vids if anyone is interested ^_^
Negative space and effective use of it is an important lesson for all artists. Nice post.
Thanks!
I've noticed a lot of ppl just don't use it and it usually is super helpful, and can improve your color/shading comprehension! :)
