Portrait in the Exhibition for the Folding Screens.

in #art6 years ago

What attracted my attention was the portrait of the old couple in the late Choson dynasty.
Their expressionless face, hair style, the coronet and the clothes were impressive to me.
This portrait seemed to be painted on the basis of the photograph.
The elaborated touches in the painting was awesome.

In my view, this portrait introduce us the exact appearance of our grandparents.
The figures and the appearances of this portrait were as same as that of my grandma.
She died when I was a little boy, but I am still remembering her appearance up until now.

Sort:

Portraits from long ago seem to bear expressionless faces. I have many old pictures of my ancestors and none had a smile.

It reminds me of my first passport photo! Very stoic and i wasnt allowed to smile. I always wondered what they were thinking as you cannot read their faces.

My great grandmother passed away when i was young, but. Her picture remains vivid in my mind

!tip.

@slowwalker,
You still remember her, yeah I also remember my grand parents as well! I think that happens we are (Asians) having family bound than most of other nations!
Anyway these portraits! Yeah they are pretty awesome! I mean the extract look and expression of the face nicely printed (draw) on folding screens! I think it's the power of the art man!

Cheers~

Wow....awesome post and very very lovely art photography..📷my dear friend @slowwalker

Excellent art wow realy fantastic art

Beautiful portraits, @slowwalker.

These anonymous people are preserved from the ravages of time and stare at us across the centuries.

You're right - their expressions are inscrutable making it impossible for us to decipher their inner thoughts or feelings, but it also makes them iconic - they are no one and Everyman...mere mortals rescued from the tides of time.

Have a good day, my friend :)

@slowwalker, I'm so much interesting to see every folding screens. The old couple in the late Choson dynasty so traditional looks indeed. Hair style and traditional kits reminded traditional looks. Both couple's face expression was proud. Nicely painted like live their faces. Well explained with brilliant captures.

@slowwalker, truly an extraordinary work of art and combined with an interesting culture I am very happy

you post a nice picture, and the maker, I am sure has good ability to make it.The beauty of the picture is as a printing in modern era. So i am so amazed of it.
Thank you @slowwalker for sharing this post.
Warm regard from Indonesia

A treasure of artistry. Thanks for sharing @slowwalker

아주 정교한 초상화네요.
쪽진 저 머리는 옛날 할머니들의 트레이드 마크였으니까요.^^

This is really great work of art.. Thanks for sharing @slowwalker

당시의 느낌이 정말 사실적으로 나는군요 ~ 살아있는 것 같습니다

Very delicate painting! Would be nice if we could have paintings if our ancestors!!
Sorry I cannot upvote yet! Too low VP.

I am wondering if it’s possible to borrow some delegation of VP for 14 days just to be able to upvote and post everyday.

Just wondering, perhaps my guardian angel will look out for me.

진짜 고귀한 작품입니다.

I also lost my grandma when I was a little boy. I was very fond of her and it was the first time I felt the sting of death in my life.

I have never seen portraits of this culture, they are interesting :)
