·····················
Hi Friendly Folks!
Since I spent a good chunk of last month dabbling in traditional ink media, I thought I'd show some more of the digital side of things. Some of you may already know the comic I am creating with @painted-bees [ Woven, go check it out ;D], so I wanted to show you some characters from another story I am building called Pilgrim Adrift.
There will be airships, eldritch monstrosities, and lots of adventure!
Ahem Anyhow, this lass here is one of the protagonists, Ms. Joëlle Sauveterre [Dr. pending]:"
·····················
"One of countless daughters within her clan's 3rd House, Joëlle didn't waste time to pour her inheritance into her academic pursuits. Now a sponsored graduate at Nova Lutetia, she's attempting to cement her expertise in Orphic Geology by amassing the largest collection of specimens/samples harvested from any anomaly she can fund an expedition to.
Her 'ocular condition' doesn't render her blind, but does result in poor eyesight, requiring significant corrective lenses to offset. That being said, with the help of custom lenses, her eyes are able to discern ranges outside of visible light, granting her a significant advantage when observing and analyzing samples in the field. Although she is well-liked amongst her gentry peers, she has difficulty mingling with a large subset of the population, due to superstitious fears regarding her 'blood sight'."
·····················
Alrighty, let's take a quick dive into the process~
Started off with a reaaaaally rudimentary stance sketch. The pose, weight and line of action were all off, but I only needed it as scaffolding for the next sketch.
Pose issues have been rectified and I am happy with the overall shapes on the page!
It is time to start committing to the lineart~
There we go. I was going to have her dragging a cohort [Strauss, to be introduced later], but as you will see, this plan fell through...
In the end, I opted out the other character and replaced it with a bag of 'groceries'. I also added more lines and started to colour them in preparation for the colours. Speaking of which:
Flat colours have now been added! It is time for the final touches :D
Added in the shaded areas with a multiply layer and harmonized the colours a little with some overlay layers.
Done!
·····················
There we go!
I hope you folks enjoyed this little exploration of my thoughts and process.
Be seeing you again shortly <3!
Cheers!!!
Lovely post, @seanbon! Congrats on been featured in @trincowski curation, well deserved!
I like her cheeky smile, good pose and dynamic lines.
Thank you!
It brings me a lot of joy to find out how much folks love her design and portrayal~

Haha that rudimentary sketch is the most I could get ut of me haha :D the 3rd pic was really where the magic started to happen :D She looks pretty cute considering she just killed a T-Rex for breakfast hahah :D
@tricnowski and his love for arts got me here :)
Hehe, thank you ;D !!
She knows how to keep herself fed~
Nice post @seanbon!
In addition to your obvious artistic talent (I don’t have any of that, but I can admire it in others …), I really liked your description of the new character for your ”Pilgrim Adrift” story. All the best with your creative efforts to bring it to life!
Dropping by to support your post, after @trincowski featured it in our weekly @pifc community contest.
Thank you so much for dropping by :D !
Most importantly, thank you for the support adn good vibes!
Yeah, I dig it, the design is lovely, it has a steampunk science vibe mixed with some Made in Abyss style, maybe a touch of Monster Hunter? Anyway it is lovely, expecting more of this now!
I'm excited that it is still giving off a steampunk vibe! I am trying to position the aesthetics somewhere within the steam-dieselpunk continuum, but combined with a hefty dollop of Asiatic culture.
I am also most pleased to be lumped in with Made in Abyss and Monster Hunter <3
Thank you and standby for more :D !!!
awesome character and very interesting story behind that. Will look forward for upcoming comic book.. i found you through the post of @trincowski where he featured you for @pifc ..
Thank you for stopping by :D !
I have been most fortunate to be featured by @trincowski ~
All this nice feedback is giving me energy to move this project forward!
Thank you!
🎉 Congratulations @seanbon! 👏, your amazing Artwork has been selected to be featured in my curation post.
Awesome :D!
Thank you so much for featuring me ; w; <3 !
It is a great honour~
Another great animation! She looks like her 'groceries' (that look like dinosaur) were really heavy :) A bit creepy but also funny at the same moment. Her expression is like the one of a happy hunter.
I like to see your progress photos and I also like that you showed us the changes that you did.
Great job! Thank you for sharing Sean!
Thank you and you are most welcome :D !!
She is indeed very happy with her prize since it will probably go really well with roast yams and potatoes~<3
Wonderful work @seanbon. I agree with @painted-bees. She really does ooze personality. I really like the lay out for her storyline. I can't wait to see more.
You were featured for week 34 of @pifc's Pay It Forward Curation Contest by @trincowski. Keep up the great work!!
Thank you for taking the time to come on over and comment ;D <3!
I can't waited to start posting more information about this project soon!
That is really amazing to see from start to finish. I found this post because @trincowski featured you in the Pay it Forward contest good luck.
I am indebted to his gratitude!
Thank you for dropping by and commenting :D !!
Seaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan
She's amazing, I love her adorable expression and her stance, the weight distribution and the body language are nicely done, she looks like she is weighted by her burdens but is still able to walk freely <3
Love the process so much also * ____ * Gorgeous explanation !!!
The finished piccar is great !!! I love the colours and how the glasses help mask her blood orange eyes <3
Very good pic, and a great chara!!!! <3 Love her very much~ What an interesting persona :D
And, yesh, Sean, if you want to get the artisteem tag working for you properly, you'd need to upload from the Artisteem.com website~ If you have any questions, poke my face and I'll help <3 <3 <3
Aaaaaah, thank you so much ; w; <333!!
She's a bit of an odd design so it warms my heart to know that it resonates so well~
And thank you for letting me know even more about Artisteem!
I shall attempt my next relevant post via said site :D
[If I run into any difficulties, I will gladly poke your face [softly of course]]<3
I like watching the progression and also your annotation about what's going on in your head while you're creating this art.
She is adorable despite her blood orange eyes. The pose makes more sense when she's still dragging the guy, but the end result is not bad either. Nice art :D.
Thank you @scrawly ~!!
I'm really glad the inner monologue/narration is worth reading :D <3
I was a little worried [or maybe embarrased ] about showing the msitakes, but then I decided that it is best to just show the whole process, warts and all!
Showing it all, including the mistakes IMO is what makes this great.
Thank you for the vote of confidence!
Hello @seanbon, I noticed you're using the Artisteem tag but your works are not appearing on our platform. I suggest posting through the platform for curators to have an easier time seeing your work there. Posting guidelines are found in the link below. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the heads up!
I'm wondering why my tags don't seem to be working ; w;
Learning new things everyday~
Such an interesting character to get to know and awesome looking art. From her expression, she looks like the kind of girl who doesn't meddle with such activity. I'd imagine it would be a surprise to see her pass by carrying a dead creature's bloody head instead of... I don't know, books? That's badass I love it :D
Thank you!
She is definitely an oddball, for better or worse ;D Although she is an academic through and through, she does have a penchant for getting her hands dirty. She tries really hard to fit in with the rank and file folks on her journey, but tends to overcompensate or come off as increasingly 'odd'.
Excellent post... and what an amazing artwork, @seanbon! Extremely cool! :-D
Many thanks my friend ;D!!
You're welcome. By the way, I've just featured your work in My entry to the "Pay It Forward Curation Contest - Week 34"
I wish you a lot of new fans!
Thank you so much :O <3 !!!
I am deeply honoured~
I like so much this digital drawing which is like the traditional ink. You could make a video and post on @dtuve about the process, I guarantee that many people will like to watch, including me.
Cheers!
That is an awesome idea!
I'm just not too sure how to start :O
As in, 'what would be a good program to capture the process?'
I would gladly try it out, especially since folks like you would be interested :D !
https://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html
I have a few friends that use that software, but I know that have a huge quantity of them you can try.
Cheers!
Thank you !!!
Oh! Nice art!
I can not imagine from his gentle look the Blood work!😲😉👍
Posted using Partiko Android
Thank you!
She's a bit of an odd one ;D
So nice, i love it. I really dont know how draw the sketch in digital I always have to draw the setch in traditional paper and then I pass it on digital. Amazing, hugs <3
That's how I started out as well when I tried digital art!
It took me a while to get used to doing the whole image on the computer ; ' w'
And don't worry, a hybrid of traditional and digital drawing is also an awesome style <3
Thank you!
