Great post dear @leoplaw, very inspirational!!! I resonate a lot with these lessons of persistence and courage displayed by Frida. I have suffered myself from infantile polio at the age of 5 and had to re-learn walking and speaking, however I was lucky enough to have my never giving up angel by my side - my mother! I talk about it here https://steemit.com/introducemyself/@ruxonsteemit/hello
Very inspirational, keep up the good work and pleasure to meet your acquaintance! :) I have resteemed this post, lovely reminder, thank you!! Best :), Ruxandra
Hi @ruxonsteemit and thank you!
What country did you grow up in? I was under the impression polio was largely eradicated throughout the world?
Hi dearest. I am Romanian and spent my childhood there. Romania had a virus spread epidemic in '92. I got it but was extremely lucky to heal after 5 months of full time hospitalization and multiple operations. Could have been avoided by a simple vaccine but Romania was in the post communism early years and the country was still behind in many areas.
I have read your Steemit introduction, and it certainly appears that you do not let things hold you down or back and are achieving a great deal in life. Are you and your husband living back in Romania now, or are you both still travelling?
