New Sketchbook ! First Page ! J.R.R Tolkien's Hobbit house

Hello its been a while since the last sketch.. I know.. but i got a new sketchbook! I am so exited for this. I got new pens too. I guess , as the children are happy when they get new toys, artist can be happy to get new "toys" too. Well, since this is a brand new sketchbook , of course the first page should be something unique and valuable for me. Something that make me feel more exited and can give me motivation to keep drawings. I am huge fan of Professor J.R.R Tolkien's writings.

Especially Lord of the rings series and of course the Hobbit. I read the books so many times that middle earth seems to be a better place to live then planet earth. For this special first page of the new sketchbook, I draw the "hole in the ground" as Professor Tolkien said in the beginin of the story. "in a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. This is not a nasty dirty holes you might imagine, this is well designed and it means comfort.. This is a hobbit hole..

Materials used

• Artline Black ink pen 0,05 / 0,3 / 0,6 /
• Regular pencil
• Marker

Sketching process

First i draw the general shapes with pencil, this step is important. With pencil you have freedom to do mistakes and you can later correct them in the later steps with ink pen.

Then, i draw the general shapes with 0,05 ink pen with detail.

Finaly with thicker pen i draw the shadows and darker spots.

Result

My favorite scene of the first Hobbit movie is when Gandalf the grey and Bilbo talks in front of the door.. I leave you with the words from the books.

“Good Morning!" said Bilbo, and he meant it. The sun was shining, and the grass was very green. But Gandalf looked at him from under long bushy eyebrows that stuck out further than the brim of his shady hat.

"What do you mean?" he said. "Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?"

*"All of them at once," said Bilbo.

I feel good in this morning :)
