I Love Gelly Roll Gel Pens
I haven't touched a gel-pen in over twenty years. I bought 68 pens of varies colors the other day, to get my money's worth you will be seeing a lot of gel pen drawings...hahaha
I decided to do a series of butterfly line drawings with my new gel pens. I'm keeping the drawing simple, butterflies and flowers are perfect.
I blended the colors on the butterfly and outlined the flowers in opaque white gel pens. The leaves and flowers I outlined with varies colors, keeping everything simple. I added a pink transparent color on top of the white because the black absorbs all colors. I had to do this with all the transparent colors; it's true, black absorbs all colors.
I used white charcoal pencil and drew simple outlines. The charcoal is easily rubbed away once the subjects are outlined, so simple and fun!

Great job but with the butterfly maybe it will be good if you add more details and some light to the wings i like the flowers and the black background

The guy who wanted to buy the Kelpie didn't send a message, sometimes that happens. That's okay though...@ohakfarm, you were gone for a couple days taking care of something if I remember correctly...after drawing all day my memory is shot...haha

I don't need lot of admire you @reddust cuz we all know your ability of art works. I didn't see before you painted using gel pen. Is this first one? mmmm I don't think it's never be. You perfect to every color materials. Perfect work with color using.

@madushanka, the colors I use are my favorites, I haven't worked on black paper before, it is interesting to figure out how to get my colors to stand out...hehehe
very cool. I wish i had those talents. my unique abilities was to create systems with code now I'm in real estate which surprisingly still allows creativity to be part of the job.
@realestatecoach, you have the sales ability which is creative...all you have to do is sit down with a good Youtube tutorial art coach and start practicing. One drawing a day for a month will give you a great start. I'm self taught, although I have been drawing and playing with art since I was a small child. I truly believe anyone can tap into their creative artsy-fartsy side and create fantastic works of art!
With practice we can become better at things but I do not think its where my skills lay. Mine is more on the business and systems side. I love reviewing results from efforts made. Nerdy but useful. :)

@tobex sometimes I have to take a couple days off and let my brain rest and relax or I will burn out...But after a day or two I always show up on Steemit, it has become a habit after almost 2 years of posting on this site. Plus I like talking to all of you.

You are a very good artist. I was a little astonished when I read that you are using this pastel pencil for the first time. And after I went through the full post I found that you are really done very well. Not saying this as a formal comment. Really your made the picture awesome.
Gel pens not pastel pencils, although I did use a white charcoal pencil for the outine. This was a simple drawing, which makes it easy and fun...hahaha thank you @shihabieee

Yes @aflatunnisa, she always gives details of her work, I always admire that too. This enables others to try the ideas. For instance :how she mixed up the colour and the uses of white charcoal pencil was analyse. She is really a good leader and want everybody to learn as well.

First you used white charcoal pencil and drew simple outlines that was a better idea to create a primary form of the drawing. Then you colored it step by step. Such an Amazing artist you are. I will wait to see your more incredible art !

I felt pretty good drawing this subject as well @bhabykat, in the old days art was either for utility, the things we made in our daily lives or for our religious institutions. Now art has been industrialized/ugly ...., I try to make art with my own two hands and what I make evokes good feelings and our imagination.

I'm glad to see your painting very early. Thanks to stunning me via your superb work @reddust. For every art works, need to spend lot of time. Patience is a key for better art work. Those objects really live. I feel it's 3D movie scene.
Oh yeah patience is a huge factor working on art pieces like this...but pens are so much easier to use than watercolor paints..it's like no worries about spilling the water or splattering the paint or making a mistake that can't be fixed...watercolors are very unforgiving...lolol

for me butterflies and flowers are a symbol of tenderness, I really like, I really like the outdoors, because our house is surrounded by an environment that can be said almost like a small forest,
That is a very good use of gel pens.
Using their unique strengths to create a very eye catching drawing.
I have always liked reverse drawing. Light colors (chalk) on darker papers. It turns what would be a fairly mundane drawing into a neat picture.
The best i have seen in this category was a drawing where the paper was a skin tone shade of brown, and then using white chalk and graphite pencil, made highlights and shadows of a portrait.
Your are so creative, you used them after so long and still you made a beautiful artwork.
