Hi guys!
Drawing textures is what I like the most, I feel free to do things as I imagine them and put into practice so many years of observation since this is the fundamental thing to draw realism.
The hair of the animal is a texture, very complicated to represent in a drawing, just like the human hair, each hair generates an individual shine, that when joined with other hairs create a dance of colors, which travel at the same rhythm.
Representing the dark and light is the challenge when drawing these animals, since you must observe where there is light and what influence it has on the color change in the animal's hair.
It sounds complicated but after observing a lot and understanding how things work, you get used to it.
The Tools:
- A4 Opaline 180G
- Charcoal Pencil.
- Moldable Eraser.
- Brush.
The Process:
- I created the sketch of the animal highlighting the most important areas to generate volume for the dog
- Then I began to illustrate the muzzle, painting it darker and degrading the farther I got, but without losing the texture.
- I worked making small strokes to simulate the fur and made some darker spots to differentiate its fur.
- I smoothed some areas with the brush to give it more volume and with the moldable eraser highlight the lights and lighter areas of the fur.
Finally after a little patience and a couple of hours of work this is the final result.
I did not want to make a background because I really liked how it looks like this, I plan to mount it in a frame and add it to my collection of favorite artworks.
I hope you liked this piece, I did not record a video for this process, so I hope the photos are to your liking.
