Death isn't the end

Hows it going guys

Welcome back. So I've had this small little project in the back burner for quite some time now. Well, I was working on this towards the end of last year, and just stopped for some reason. I don't know why I do that sometimes. Maybe I was burnt out or just needed a little break. Oooh, I just remembered, (as I'm typing this out) I was working on that 3D stick figure animation last year. Man, that totally burnt me out. (●´⌓`●). Yet, I still wanna make more. Because that's who I am as an animator. Just a vicious cycle (lol). Well, on to thy post.

Inspiration

Last year, I was playing this video game called control. It was the second game I've played on the playstation 5 at the time. The mystery atmosphere and the overall eeriness hooked me. The story, the lore, and the gameplay, all melted together like a hot fudge sunday. After I finished the game, I thought about it for a very, very long time. You know a game is so good that you just can't think about anything else. And that's what happened to me. So I wanted to make something similar to my experience with the game.

Process

I actually didn't have any plan on how I would make the scene. It just came to me as I created it. I haven't done that in a very long time. Usually I would draw a layout of the level and story board it as well, but not this (lol). I pretty much made the scene in 3D space on the top of my head, and then added some texture after that. I wanted it to look very dark and gritty.

The next step was the animation part. So I animated a man going up the stairs, slowly walking up to the small pillar. At the time I didn't know what was going to be on there. So I decided it should be my logo. I thought that would be very fitting because my logo it has an unknown look to it. At least that's what I think. By the way, I got the male model from sketchfab, incase you were wondering. Anyway, I added some texture to the logo and animated the movement and the texture, so it would have this other worldly look to it.

I then added multiple light sources in the room to try and capture that mystery atmosphere, just like in the game. A lot of 3D artists say that lighting is very important when it comes to a 3D scene. So I tried my best on that part. And then I pretty much finished up on the animation part and rendered it. The total animation frames for the project was 3900 frames. Apparently when I came back to this project on a later date, I had already rendered out some footage. So the process of that didn't take too much time.

Lastly, I put all the footage together in Adobe After Effects as usual and rendered it out once more. You know, I really like working on these types of videos because I am able to fully express myself through my art work. Alrighty, here's the final results of the project.

Ludvig Forssell - Spatial Awareness

Another small project done, but many more to come. I wanted to ask a very important question, do you guys want to see more content like this or maybe something different? I have many ideas just waiting to be created. But I do want to create more mystery kind of art. So please let me know.

And as always, have a good one guys,
until next time, peace and thank you.

This looks so amazing!

You're amazing. 😊

Real nice animation.

Thanks. :)

The first thing that came to my mind is the game that I had recently finished that also had the ascension part, the name’s Mortal Shell. I wondered if you also played but it’s totally different than that lol. Great work nonetheless.

Yes, Ive heard about it but never played it. It looks like it took some inspiration from dark souls. And thank you. There's more to come.

Will try and check them too😊

That scene and room is giving me big vibes towards that creepypasta urban legend thing called The Backrooms that emerged a few years ago. Looks cool!

Wooow I didn't think of that. Someone made a video of that story. Definitely worth a watch, and thank you. I'm glad you like it. 😌

looks great bro! a futuristic atmosphere in my opinion! here have some hbd! ;D

Thank you @cocacolaron. I wasn't expecting a direct donation but I very much appreciate it.
