My fascination with the wolves

Hello my dear steemianos, today I want to talk to you about my taste for wolves. Wolves belong to the family of canids, within carnivorous mammals. This family also includes other animals such as the dog, the coyote and the jackals, of which I only know dogs.
The most distinctive feature of these animals are the teeth, the long fangs that protrude when they open their mouths. Their brains are quite developed compared to other animals, so they tend to be smarter. They are predatory animals, so their physique is adapted to it.
The wolf, which is a predator, is found in a large number of ecosystems. This large territory of habitat where wolves thrive reflects their adaptability as a species, since they can live in forests, mountains, tundras, taiga and grasslands. Unfortunately, the species is recognized as endangered or threatened due to hunting.
The wolf feeds mainly on sheep, goats, chamois, pigs, deer, antelopes, reindeer, horses, moose, yaks and bison. Other prey include marine mammals such as seals and stranded whales.
Wolves, animals that live in the wild (both males and females), reach sexual maturity at the age of 22 months (although, in captivity, there have been cases of wolves that have reproduced at the age of only 10 months ). The mating season is carried out, depending on the region, between January and March. After a gestation period of 61 to 63 days, the female gives birth between March and June. The litters are usually from one to seven puppies (usually the younger wolves have small litters of between 1 and 3 puppies, and progressively their fertility increases with age).
There are several types of wolves: the white wolf, the gray wolf, the red wolf and the brown wolf. What I love most about wolves is that they live in litters, that is, they are very sociable. They live, travel and hunt in a very organized group, usually between 6 and 12 wolves per group. Each group has a dominant pair, the dominant male manages the males of the group and the dominant female manages the females of the group, these leaders are called alpha pairs.
Normally, only the alpha wolf pair can procreate a litter of puppies. Other wolves in the herd can reproduce, but they will lack the resources necessary to raise the puppies to maturity. All the wolves in the herd help in the breeding of the wolf cubs.
Well my dear steemianos a big hug to those who read me.
