Flowing curves
In my house beautiful orchids are in bloom and they are calling out to be painted! Their flowing curves are perfect for capturing with watercolours.
Subtle layers of pink are built up using watercolours. A large flat brush is used to create the curved lines.
After allowing some of the layers to dry details and darker tones are added using a smaller brush.
lovely when the water colour is more lovely than the flower
Ssshhh you don't want those blooms to hear you, they are very sensitive flowers!
Thank you :)
:)

Yes lots! I think it's one of my favourite ways to use watercolours.
How beautiful Ophelia !
This is beautiful, I love Phalaenopsis orchids. I used to do botanical paintings myself as I love scientific paintings. I will definitely do some more botanical paintings in the future for sure. Great work :)
I love the delicate tints of the white moth orchids.

Ooh I love this one, she looks like she's completely weighless 😍
It's the use of water- i let the first layers of colour float across the surface

I wish you a beautiful week
Absolutely stunning! I love orchids, art and painting, will have to try follow the steps and recreate your beautiful work! Few months back I saw incredible painting called "Orchid with an Amethyst Hummingbird" (By; Martin Johnson Heade). I think yours looks even more gorgeous! Will follow you and and hope to see more!
This is soo beautiful! I love orchids. This one looks like one of mine sitting in my window ...
It is a rare case but i actually prefer the drawing to the real orchid in this particular case :) Great artwork!

Wow! It looks so real, soft and delicate. @opheliafu Great painting. Keep up the good work.
I bow to your skill here! It's nearly alive, I almost can smell it!:)
nice work with watercolors.. following you :)
Incredible, how you captured this complex flower so precisely. Perfect color too!
Orchids will forever remind me of a story my gmother told me. When she was young two men wanted to take her out to a dance, one showed up with a gardenia corsage, the other with an orchid one. She chose the orchid as this flower was a rare treat to see then. She still had the remnants of the petals in a little box, brown, crumbled and mostly all dust but they story they held made them seem bright and fresh to me.
Thank you for helping me to remember this :)
Such beautiful artwork! Love the vividness of this orchid and contours :)
Steem on and enjoy your day!
