Enjoy the tranquillity
Today in the UK it has been a bank holiday, so no work and a time to relax and rest.
Tranquillity:
quality or state of being tranquil; calmness; peacefulness; quiet; serenity.
Today's cyanotype is about sitting back and taking the time to watch the dandelion seeds float in the breeze, listen to the buzz of the bees and catch the sun's rays.
The Process -exposure to UV and final print
The pictures above show the cyanotype being exposed to UV and the final print. The image on the left is of the cyanotype paper being exposed to the sun with flowers and text, the paper has already started to change from a yellow tint to green with the exposure to UV light. The dark blue print is the finished cyanotype print after the print has been processed and washed.
Hello my friend
Lovely this drawing
It is close to the cover of a book
Thanks @mars9!
Nice artwork! the blue one is my favorite
Thank you @businesswri. The one that is a light green IS the blue one before it is put in water- it's a chemical reaction to sunlight.
nice! that's awesome
I hope you enjoy the holiday of your country, congratulations for the technique and the beautiful work you have done.
have a nice week
That is really cool @opheliafu! How long did the process take?
About 12 hours for making the print, I make the solution and coat the paper at night, allow it to dry then prepare the images for exposure. I then expose and develop the prints in the morning- it takes a further 24 hours for the print to go dark blue.
Thank you for your answer @opheliafu!!
Painting with organic shapes, neat! :)
Just following humbly in the footsteps of Anna Atkins
Very nice!
I like cyanotypes. There is also a chemical trick to replace the black in B&W photos with this hue of blue, but I think I may have already mentioned that.
There are various methods for tinting cyanotypes too.
Very cool. In the US today is 'Memorial Day'
Great work @opheliafu. I wasn´t aware that it was a bank holiday in the UK (I`m out of touch)! I am sure that it was a well deserved rest for everyone.
Except for those doing the traditional task of bank holiday DIY.
I also must have forgotten about that part :)
Your parts improve my English very 🐒🐒🐒🐒
I'm not sure that I give the best examples of written English, but thank you for the compliment!
Just wow!
