Do you like candy colors?
I usually call the combination of pink and blue like that because they remind me of bubble gum or something else sweet [no idea why..]
[Sorry for the bad quality of the photos. As usual, I'm the most inspired in the evening/night and the light in my room isn't the best for taking photos]
I was inspired by a photo of Sago Palm, found on Pinterest.
The photo I used as a reference [you can find the pin here or see it in its original location here]
The colors in the photo are nice and elegant but with my interpretation, I wanted to make it somehow happier (:
I'm studying for passing my last (fingers crossed) exam and finally getting my Bachelor's degree so I don't have much time for painting. But at the same time, I have lots of ideas for future projects and it's hard to concentrate on my studies.
I haven't painted/drawn anything for like two days and wasn't planning to do it tonight, but when the inspiration hits you, you can't think of anything else, am I right?!
So I grabbed my sketchbook with the idea to do something simple enough to not take me much time but at the same time something that will take me more than 5 minutes so I can get my daily dose of creating.
As you can see, I've one block of pink in the upper right corner and a fullwidth blue one at the bottom. Then market where should the pot with palm plant be.
And then, started coloring it.
I did the pot with white and a bit of the blue from the bottom to give it a blue tint.
And the leaves are the same as the bottom [I love blue in all kinds of tints and hues but the darker tones are more magnificent]
The trunk is the most unrealistic. Blue leaves - ok, but pink trunk instead of brown one.... who knows what fruits would give.. maybe cotton candy cones?
Added also details like shadows and I was done.
I called it 'Cupcake Palm Plant' because I've painted a cupcake in similar colors ones and this reminds of it so bad.
Maybe I should take a proper photo and offer it as a print, what do you think?
I'm open to critism and recomendations!
