Comic Book Preparations - character study #5

in #art6 years ago (edited)

Happy Friday Steemit!

We are heading out for a last minute day trip to the mainland tomorrow. The kids have no idea. I'm not looking forward to waking them early, but I am beyond excited to see how stoked they'll be once we get going. I'll be sure to take loads of photos and share our adventures next week. Of course, this means the weekend is likely going to be a bust, when it comes to making time for the old blog. So I wanted to make sure to at least pop my head in this evening, and drop a post, before doing the last-minute-travel-checklist.

I was originally planning to write up a Foodie Friday post for today, but after spending a good part of my spare time on this page yesterday, and finishing it up today, I knew I wouldn't likely find time to write up a whole food blog post... Those tend to need a lot of attention, which at this hour on a Friday, I do not have. I'm still trying to find the time to write up posts ahead of time, and keep them stashed away on my computer for the appropriate time, but with my attention being divided at the best of times, and trying to run a functioning household, as well as trying to devote at least 10 min (preferably more) every day to my sketchbook, I'm not sure how I'm going to get that far ahead... But that's a problem for another day.

Today we have another character from my comic book, which is going to get a much-needed and long-awaited reboot sometime in the near future. I'm currently working on all of the character studies, at the same time as plotting out the story, but have yet to start writing the actual script... one step at a time, and all that.

gavan

This is Gavan, "Van" for short. (Because "Gav" is sooo blasé.) He is the air elemental in the 'baddie' group. He is preppy, posh, bitchy, and snide. And I can't wait to write his script. 😁lol

Here's a look at the process:

I was debating between a couple of different swallow tattoo designs, and though I ended up sketching the one from the right onto his hips, I'm still not 100% sure it's the one I'm sticking with. That remains to be seen.

It's been a while since I've posted a "proof" photo, so here I am with Van. And my glamorous box of sketching supplies in the window behind me. HAHA! 😆

Hope you guys are enjoying these pages! I've still got a few left to go! Maybe I'll even get using that damn scanner before I'm done them all. 😅

What are your plans for the weekend?

Interesting art! I like it!
(Would be great if you could support my latest post;)

This makes me think of my favourite comics when I was a little girl, Archie! Well, mainly Sabrina, but the style is light and happy like that.

Yes, I definitely read my fair share of Archie and Sabrina comic books! lol

Nice strong line work - I enjoy him - his cleavage sticks out to me a but but that is all I can crit.

Thanks for your hard work and upload.

Thanks very much! I agree - there's something about the cleavage that just wasn't quite right, but I decided it was good enough for this quick study page, so I ran with it. haha
