Today has been a day of bright colours for me! For some reason I've been attracted by them and have probably noticed that here on my Steemit wall. I've been thinking lately about how certain fields of design are really stuck in the past, and as a new designer it can be really hard mentally to step outside of the box and think differently from what's come before. When it comes to producing something that's physical, the complexities then become apparent as you're often having to go out of your way to produce something that's one of a kind. When I came across Finnish textile designer Reeta Ek her philosophy made sense to me and I really appreciated her insight in to the world of "mark" making.
Reeta, who recently graduated from the Aalto University School of Arts and Design, has focused on non-repeating elements in her textile design, looking at fabric as if they are a canvas. This is unusual in the world of textile design as most designers turn to repeating patterns. Not only is this easier to design but it's also easier to produce and means that companies have to spend less money on the production. But by flipping her mentality she has not only made her work more visible to the wider public it has also given her an individual style that is truly her own.
Some of these artworks here were part of a recent exhibit titled "Neighbours" that was constructed by Artek and she has since gone on to work with Marimekko, Lapuan Kankurit and Nanso. Here's a few of my favourites from her portfolio. Obviously these are a little flat, since they're being showcased in a digital format, but I can imagine on a piece of fabric these are quite beautiful and abstract. Enjoy.

Hey, try using busy.org to do your stemmit posts. It's a legitimate alternative to the original stemmit platform but with a better writing interface.
Good thing is not about that interface but an extra upvote for each post whenever you author and publish on the busy.org. The $ amount of each upvote by busy.org hinges on the total steem power of your followers. Interesting?
Just tag 'busy' as one of the five tags to each of your posts on busy.org and the busy.org bot will come to you for upvoting. I've been doing my posts on busy.org because one of my local HK steemit veteran mates told me about the new platform. They've been sticking with busy.org for long.
Whatever goodies I've discovered on here for sure I let you know, mate. But don't see me I'm interfering. :-)
EDIT: merely tagging 'busy' to a post that's done on stemmit rather than busy.org doesn't work.
and the upvote $ amount now I'm receiving for each my post from busy.org almost comes top of the list, this means the $ can be pleasing when your follower base grow bigger...
Also, lend 11 steem power to minnowsupport if you have joined the group. This can give you extra $ for each upvote from the group.
Hey @prch. Interesting, I did hear about busy.org on my travels through Steemit but just thought it was for publishing future posts or something. There are so many hidden secrets here. 😅
Honestly, I appreciate all your support. You have helped me loads already and there is always new things to learn.
I will look in to the minnowsupport now and try the busy.org today :D Cheers bro.
By the way, do you have any more info on the lending of steem power to minnowsupport?
Yes, I have but just a moment please. Will get back to you in about 5 or 6 hours with links and things you need to do.
There you go.
read this https://minnowsupportproject.org/delegation/
read this https://minnowsupportproject.org/msp-shanehug/
"15% up-vote on all of your new posts after delegation of 11-99SP", so why I said 11
3.1 go to https://steembottracker.com, click the upper right tab 'tools', then click 'delegation manager',
3.2 type your stemmit user in the delegator box
3.3 type minnowsupport as delegatee and amount of steem power as 11
3.4 then click 'delegate'
3.5 it will take you to another screen (make sure it is 'steemconnect.com'), then click continue, enter your stemmit username and master key, click sign-in
3.5 Hey presto, completed. Back to the page you were entering the delegating (lending) information, you can check if the delegation has been successful. Type your username in the delegator box, something like this will pop up on screen.
That was quick! Thanks so much. Yeah, I only have 54 Steem power so I guess I'm kind of low still? But still interested how I can do it, when I get more? :D
Awesome. Followed all that, everything worked out ok I think. Posted on Busy.org so hope I will get an extra upvote through that at some point :D Cheers @prch!
At the moment, i suggest you not to touch your steem power, you'll be stuck with the running out of bandwidth issue. Wait until you'll have 20 more of steem power.
By that time, who to lend? Go to https://steembottracker.com again, type my name prch as delegator there, and you'll see who's the biggest delegatee of mine. Do the same and Lend your extra 20 to that account.
But one downside of busy.org is that when you're post promoting your post on discord, no photo is shown, just plain text. Without a photo, I now hardly am having random upvotes from there.
But this doesn't really matter to me, the $ upvote from busy.org can suppress the $ I got from random upvotes from discord. But if you really want to grow your fan base there on discord rather than just $ OR you had lots of random upvotes from there (I usually had 1 or 2 each day), you may switch back to the original stemmit publishing platform, so a photo of a post will normally show up on screen.
EDIT: now do some trials, compare if you can grow more $ from busy.org and eventually find a platform suits you most.
see this: busy.org came almost top in this box (a higher position = a higher $ upvote value) and you can also see msp-lovebot, that's the result of lending 11 steem power to minnowsupport, that came in a quite high position.
It doesn't seem to me a UK team/community is alive on stemmit. If you find one, do join the army. That's a good way to socialise with local mates and another good thing is you may have an auto voting/curation trail upvoting each of your post.
I have a CN community supporting each other and the CN owner has an auto voting/curation trail for every post of registered community members like me.
Yeah, I'm going to try this busy.org and see if it helps me. In the future, when I get more Steem Power, I will try and delegate more and see if I get higher rewards :) Yeah, I think the UK Steemit is still small. Maybe I can find more local people over time. Cheers for your help! :)
Hey @prch! Were you getting votes straight away from the busy website? My last two posts were on the platform (with busy tag) but no upvotes from them. Guess it takes a while or? ...
I published two posts. One 9 hours ago and the other one 19 hours ago.
Busy came to the 9 hours one but has forgotten the 19 hours old post
Some one complained about this before.
One more goodie I’ve just discovered
Whatever travel related posts of yours, add a tag “travelfeed”, and go to this http://www.steemitworldmap.com, pin the location and the website will generate a code for your post to appear on the map. Copy the code from the website and paste inside your busy.org/steemit text.
If they like your post, they will upvote you and mention your post.
I have just done it and got my Hawaii post upvoted and mentioned.
Edit: on that website: toggle the “code” , pin the location, a code will show up, click on the location code to copy it, go back to your post and paste your code into anywhere of The main text. Be sure to tag travelfeed
Seems busy.org posts with photos are working properly on discord. My latest post promotion has a photo with it there.
But busy.org upvotes have not been working properly, Im still expecting busy.org to come and upvote my two latest posts.
I am captivated. Thank you for posting all this beautiful art. Reeta has quite an eye for color and textural patterns. I hope to see more! ~Resteemed!!
Glad you liked it :) She is a talented artist ... Keep up the good work. Now following you :)
