Double Down
I don't know why I do this to myself.
This is my second Christmas here and I've grown to love the place. They say, if you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, it's yours forever.
I took a break. I'm back. This is mine. Those are the rules.
So many complaints.
It's not hard to find reasons to complain about what's on the trending page. People want to see change. That, has never changed.
Listen. I'm trying.
I'm trying to change what's there, every time I publish a post. I'm sorry if my all wasn't enough to make it but bear with me here. It'll come.
I can't use my downvotes to control what's there. My upvotes aren't enough either and I know that, yet I still go to your blog and at least try.
I do not consider that work of art up there to be my best work.
It's simply, my latest creation.
Normally, you'll see some bright and vibrant colors beaming out from this blog. I didn't feel like getting my Crayons today.
It looks bland, boring, overly simplified... to some. What is that? Squiggly lines with two heads in the middle? What's the point?
Others pay attention to detail. They pick up on the small things and find a way to appreciate not what's right in front of them but what enters their mind when they look at how they see things.
Believe it, or not.
I was forced to abandon this piece. It was starting to become far too complex, even for me. I went in knowing most people wouldn't even notice what truly makes it special. That isn't what made me stop though.
Sometimes, an artist like me will produce an image, then stare. Something feels off. Something doesn't feel right. Something doesn't look right.
They might turn it on it's side or maybe flip it over completely and end up liking what they see.
The artist doesn't have that option especially when it comes to faces, heads, bodies and even landscapes though. If you took a photo of yourself and a friend standing above and behind you, then flipped it, you'd be left with something that looks completely different.
Some say we only have two sides to our brains. Left and right.
I think I'm different. My brain also has a top, bottom, front and back. When I start over-clocking my mind like that, either something truly grand is going to happen... or I'm going to fizzle out and go, Pop!
With all that being said.
Here is the same image, upside down.
Pop! Into the trending with you!!!
One #1. Trying to break down barriers to prove that if I can, you can, and they can too! This, was the only solution I could think of. Keep in mind, my mind has popped. There's brain matter all over the floor. If this doesn't work. That's why.
It's lovely brain matter though
All airy and light. Ahhhhhh
Dude! Thank you so much for that amazing complime... wait a minute! Did you just...? No. You couldn't have. Did you? :)
This is a really cool picture, whats your method, is that a digital painting? Either way I think its sweet, like light starting to pierce through darkness. The symmetry makes it even more powerful. Nice work!
Yes, all my work is digital. I'm still moving my hand and connecting with the physical world when I produce my artwork. I used to worry about it; how the art world views digital art. Is it cheating? Do you feel like a cheater when you write these comments without a pen? I don't!
Thank you for these compliments. You have yourself a nice day.
You're welcome! Digital art is totally legit, just a different medium in my eyes. My old roommate did digital art and I know how time consuming and difficult it can be.
I prefer to look at your work upside down =) ahahahahah perfectly insane
I'm not sure if it's upside down or downside up. Maybe it's right side down?
When you turn it on it's side, with the right eyes, you can see forever. That was a riddle.
I actually did it and it looks like a pussy :D
I got my pecker stuck in one of those once.
ahah. How old are you @nonameslefttouse ?
About half dead. Give or take. :)
Take
What did you call it, that term for seeing faces in everything? The ones in this kind of remind me of the scary owl from the Secret of Nimh. I loved that cartoon, the rats of nimh, how they were experimented on and had human intelligence, and two mice as well...
Sorry, tangent. This picture did not need color, in fact I think it is much cooler the way it is. Even though like you I generally prefer color, there are occasions where black and white is awesome and this is one of them.
Pareidolia. Don't worry. Even spellcheck doesn't know that one.
I produced that entire image on one layer using the different shades seen there. Adding color would have been a major pain in the ass. I wanted to make the faces look more like my usual work. I'm only one guy. The whole thing was taking too long. I'm happy with the end result, as it looks. It didn't need color at all.
I imagine and I absolutely agree. Here's that owl:
Now in black and white
Of course it's likely I have a lot of childhood things on my mind aiding the comparison. But he was always one of the hand down coolest, yet scariest animated figures.
That's exactly how pareidolia works. It's wired in our subconscious. We're all born with it and it's permanent. I don't even know of a disease that could stop it.
I didn't even know that thing you showed me existed until now. His face doesn't look like...
what her face looks like from the front, when upside down though.
Okay, And I get nightmares with evil owls watching at their reflection in the water! :(
Yaan, Yaan, the interesting blue man. Came to my blog as fast as he can.
He saw an owl, cried, "That's fowl!"
Then went to relieve, his bowel.
Poetry is not a poetry without bowel action or few farts in the end. Brilliant!
That is some outstanding work! You have really come a long way from some of your earliest stuff that was good. This is definitely next level. Nicely done.
This, is why I have bags under my eyes today. I question myself late at night. Will it all be worth it, this time? Will they at least look?
Thanks for coming to my show today. I'll try harder next time!
Wow! You're doing so well - that was quite the comeback in a VERY short time! Boom.
I'm getting there. It all starts with just wanting to show people what I've done whether it's writing or art or a combination of both. I just want people to see. If they look, things start going well. Maybe there's a little bit of that law of attraction stuff up there in that title too.
I just came over because I saw your name somewhere... And was like..... " no name left to ...USE"!! Ha! Clever!!!
No other names left to choose from....so I use this one!
Anyway.... So did it hit trending? $80 aint too shabby!!
Peace, and Happy Holidays
Trending? I tried.... Tried my best!
Nowhere near the top on Trending, but within the art category this managed to hit the top 20 trending. A small victory. Some of the posts above it were using the art tag loosely, as in, those posts weren't 100% about art. If we exclude those, technically this post was a little higher up than how it appeared in the list.
$80 isn't too shabby at all. The main trending page when I wrote this consisted of a couple really good individual efforts(which looks good for Steemit because they're trying to attract normal, everyday, people). Then we had some scammer milking the rewards pool. About 5 of his posts with obsolete trading "tips" cluttered up the place along with an army of idiots writing testimonial like comments under each post. Then we had a large whale who wasn't pleased with these scammers getting a few things off his chest. And finally two accounts. One starts with 'ads' and the other starts with the letter v. Those two, no matter what is actually inside the post, will earn far beyond what even this post earned before people even open it to see what's inside. Bots just auto vote it to the top whether it's good or not. Technically, that's a scam too. It scams Steemit out of being able to keep users feeling like they too could reach those levels. The popular Dtube videos are automatically upvoted by dtube to promote dtube. If a member here uses that service and earns $500, $250 is going to curators and Dtube instead of the content producer. There's so much more than meets the eye. For some reason, I think many of those earning the most with consistent auto votes think the rest of us are blind and/or stupid.
I just wanted to put some art there. Just wanted to show Steemit that it's still possible even though most anyone else on that lists looks for a trick or a way to game to system to be there. I nearly did it. Sorry about this ramble. I haven't had my coffee yet.
No worries. We all need a good ramble sometimes.
Thanks and good luck next time!!
You have very interesting works.
