Infected Warrior Designing

First stages of the Infected Warrior piece

This will be an infected warrior (not sure which type yet), in pain, leaning on his weapon while alien insect type legs burst out of his back.

I have begun the rough blocking out of the character in Maya. I began with taking photos of my brother, from four angles, posing for reference.

The great thing about these reference photos is I can sculpt the character using the reference muscles, color skin texture, and I took the same photos with him in a long sleeve shirt in case I want to add a shirt to the character.

Lastly for the reference, I took close ups of his hands, feet and head. For sculpting purposes.

Then I went over to Maya and blocked out the shapes starting with a cube. Ending up with this as a starting point.

I blocked in the hands, which always takes a bit of time.

Then I got some feedback. We decided he needed to be in more pain. So, I made him cringe and grab his chest (saving the previous pose as a separate file).

I think it's a lot better.

I still need to block out the hand gripping the weapon.

And have these types of insect legs bursting out of his back.

This project will go into high-end 3D character development; 3D sculpting in Zbrush; texturing in Zbrush and Photoshop(probably more); look dev in Houdini; and then placing the character into a forest scene and complete the final image.
