RE: Starting A New Quilt - Wonky Stars for Gwen - Needlework Monday

in #art7 years ago

Oh, I love the wonky star idea!!! I've steered away from patterns with triangles because it's bad enough matching up corners on squares...but not having to fuss over getting each little point matched up makes this super appealing. The colors are great too! I'm a big fan of baby quilts that don't only scream "BABY" and will "grow" with the child :) That's looking beautiful so far. I'll look forward to watching the progress on it!

Thank you! The baby girl is almost one and started walking recently. I usually give it to them on their actual day of birth, but my machine was hidden in boxes after our move to Panama, so I couldn't get one done before she was born. And then there's the whole...how would I ship it back? Ha. Anyway, I hate triangles, but this was really easy. I recommend it!!

Oh, do you not have a way to mail stuff out there??

It is insanely expensive - like DHL. There are no addresses here in Panama, so no mail system. Nothing is guaranteed to actually make it where you want it...to the US or here. I have a MIL who has mailed us 3 letters from Texas...none have arrived. Ha.

No addresses...my first world privilege is boggling my mind, only because I never gave the matter serious thought in the first place. Mail is something that we take so much for granted!!

Lol - it really is. Yeah to get directions here it's no fun. We have yet to find a church we are trying to attend. "Turn on the fast road (paved) and go up three streets. You'll see a truck and bus garage. It's right across from that." We finally learned it's a yellow house with no cars. Lol.

That's really funny :))) Are you going to go hunting for the yellow house church this Sunday?

I think we know where it is, but we aren't planning to hunt for it tomorrow. Perhaps next week. Ha
