Lisbon Street Art

Dear People of Hive,

one thing in Lisbon which I really appreciate is the street art scattered all over the city. I believe this is one thing that give this city it's vibe and represents the open minded and relaxed lifestyle of its habitats.

I want to show you a bit of my street art collection of Lisbon and take you to a place which is practically a real street art gallery on a stairway.

On our way we passed by some pretty impressive artworks on whole house walls.

This Guy also occupies almost the whole wall by himself.

Here a little closer shot, so you can see that it is actually pretty detailed. I like this one very much.

So here at Rua dos Lagares is the entry to the staircase / art gallery. While I went up i appreciate the work and took pictures of my favorite works. Please enjoy!

The first peace i really enjoyed was this cute old lady. Somehow, I find her face quite familiar, but i just don't know why. Maybe you know who she is? Another cool thing about this painting, i love the mix of other artworks to it. There is this cool bird sitting on her shoulder and some strange plant growing next to her. Also, the dangling shoe on the lamp is giving the whole picture a certain vibe. Very cool!

Here a good example of how art can be used to bring awareness to people. This cool peace caught my attention and made me curious about its message. I have to amid that I was not aware of the Tigray War. Art can sometimes really help you to open your eyes.

A bit less depressing, is the "Lonely Man". But it also makes you think what was the inspiration for this? Is it the artist itself we see? Or a lonely man the artist saw? Either way, i think it is one of the best artworks on this staircase!

This colorful bird reminds me of the small bird sitting on that grandma’s shoulder on the previous picture. Probably a more detailed and colored version by the same artist.

And here some more of the same or similar style. Too bad that some of the works are covered by this construction fence. On the right side you can see some brains attached to the wall. I saw these brains already on several places in the city.

Another amazing work. Again, I am not sure who this guy is but he also looks familiar. This work is quite huge as well, i assume at least 2 meters in height.

She must be some kind of alien super hero. At least that is what came to my mind when I saw her. She looks pretty relaxed though.

Now, this guy is really something that made me wonder. What is it? A Yeti i guess but why is it holding a sandglass? Really strange! I love it!
img_20220411_184209.jpg

Here another angle, so you also can see the abstract eyes crawling out of the wall. This is really a creative person's work.

Next to it we have this pretty oriental lady.
img_20220411_184246.jpg

Here we have a pretty nice and simple piece. When I say simple, I don't mean it is not creative actually I mean the opposite. Its simple but still unique and amazing. It could easily be a logo for a brand.
img_20220411_184254.jpg

All right, I am not pretty sure what to say about the next peace of art. It made me smile, that is for sure!
img_20220411_184338.jpg

Here are some more of these brains which you can find all over the city.
img_20220411_184401.jpg

I guess I am not the only one who is wondering what it is about. Probably it is supposed to remind us to use our brains more!
img_20220411_184512.jpg

Now we are almost at the end of the staircase but there are still some nice paintings and artworks to admire. Like this eye in an abstract surrounding.

And last but not least, a very nice artwork on typical Portuguese tiles. Pretty cool if you ask me! Btw. no idea who the person on this tile is. Maybe you know her by any chance?

After you managed to climb all the stairs, you will be rewarded with very nice view. You can see the Tejo River and Almada on the other side of the river.
img_20220411_184500.jpg

Just a couple of meters from the stairs is another nice viewing point with a great view over the city it is called Miradouro da Graça.

I pointed the entrance to the staircase out in the map below, in case you visit Lisbon and you want to see it too. But don't forget to take pictures and share it here. One cool thing about street art is it can be gone overnight or replaced by another piece of art. You never know how long it last.

I really hope you could get a little impression of the Lisbon Street art. But I recommend you anyways to come here and check it out yourself.

Please let me know which piece you liked the most? And if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I am happy to respond!

Have a nice evening.

See you soon!
