Black & White horses on paper 100cm * 75cm
So let's start by looking for an example and then draw the outer line don't be too worried if it does not match 100% you can adjust as we keep going.
I only shade the darkest area's and then smudge it so it fades out and leaves a nice equal finish of the 1st layer.
Don't try to get it right the first time It takes layers till you reach the final finished drawing.
As you keep adding layers make sure you keep brushing in the same direction with the pencil I keep using the 8B for this and keep adding lines with HB and with 3H I even make lines with my pencil eraser this way you get several shades and it starts to add the structure of hair.
Just keep in mind that it usually starts looking good towards the end 3 to 4 layers is what I usually tend to do also not every line you set has to be 100% visible you want some structure in there as well and imperfection is what makes drawings look good in the end.
So let's add some ears and hair, shall we? Again I just use 8B to start with drawing the lines in the direction you want them then smudge and erase some parts in between, the lighter areas make it look real if you don't leave some lighter areas it will look flat and unrealistic. Use the 8B and HB for the hairs and use 3H for the edges where the thinner single-stranded hairs are and add some lines that look like the shadow of the hair.
That's a cuuuuute horse! Check out my painting sometime.ヾノ≧∀≦)o
