New oil painting of my favorite bird, The Robin! Original artwork by @mayasky.

Hi Everyone!

Today I wanted to share my latest painting, I just finished it this afternoon :)
It's of the little Robin!

Here it is;

The painting measures 18 x 13 cm, or 7 x 5 inches, so it's quite small!
I had to work with my smallest detail brushes to get all the details and shapes I wanted, but I had a lot of fun and would like to paint another one soon.

I learned a lot from painting this composition and would like to try and improve some of the design elements in my next painting.
Like the painted wood in the background. I don't have much experience painting this type of texture and I think I made it a lot more difficult than it had to be 😅

Oh well, lesson learned! 😊

This is the palette I used for this painting;

The colors going from left to right are;

  • Ivory black
  • Raw Umber
  • French Ultramarine Blue
  • Turquoise Clear
  • Permanent Rose
  • Vermilion
  • Iron Oxide Yellow
  • Windsor Yellow
  • Titanium White

All the other color mixes on my palette are made from these 10 colors.
I really like to premix my colors before I start a painting. This way I can focus a lot better on the painting and keep the ''flow''.

I have two Robins in my garden and they are just the sweetest little beings!💓
Can't wait to paint another!

I filmed some of the process while painting this little Robin, so in the next couple of days, I'll post a progress video.

I hope you like the painting!

Love, inspiration and happy painting,
Marie

You have done an excellent job, it looks like the robin is standing in the yard and not drawn in a painting. Lovely!

Thank you so much @cryptoxicate! :D I truly appreciate it <3
