Black and white portrait study in photoshop-digital painting

as you people know that i am now back at digital painting, so i have been looking for things or reference photo to draw.
so i thought what would be better than a black and white portrait...

so i googled and found a bw portrait.... i think because half of its face was completely in the dark is the reason why i chose it....
may be in the future i will choose more visible picture....
this was a quick painting, done with only one kind of brush.....

here is the final portrait:

now that i have uploaded the picture, i am thinking that may be i should have done something to the eye... i completely forgot to add any kind of lighting to the eye....
also i think the lip is not perfect.... i am trying my best to be better at it.... (sounded really weird)
