Kohtei, art pavilion by artist Kohei Nawa and architects Yoshitaka Lee and Yuichi Kodai

in #art7 years ago

It is in Japan, in the city of Fukuyama in the prefecture of Hiroshima that one can see this construction from the most original sheltering an art pavilion and a temple.

The building was commissioned by a shipbuilding company to pay tribute to workers who lost their lives at sea or due to industrial accidents. Kohtei offers visitors the opportunity to contemplate the spirit of Zen by looking at the landscapes and gardens and being subjected to a meditation experience through its artistic installation. The arrival is made by a minimal footbridge offering the visitor a first impression to take the breath of breath. The distinctive form of Kohtei was inspired by the motive of a ship. It is an architecture that floats on waves surrounded by mountains and has as its theme three basic materials wood, stone and water.
