I am a fiber and fine arts artist and own a studio called Studio 13-34. Most of the time I create paintings and sculpture out of natural and synthetic fibers, but sometimes I work on gifts or items that support the cost of having a studio.
This morning I finished up two practical use items - a clutch and a glasses/phone case. Both are made from felt and in the case of the clutch, the lining is polyester. The designs on the felt bases are needle felted. I finished both by sewing in a lining and adding on a felted strap and securing the seams on both.
The strap on the clutch was made by another person as a ribbon on a package that was sent to me for the 2017 Peace Felt program. We each made something from felt and passed that on to an unknown person somewhere else in the world. This organization is sponsored by Living Felt, a company that supplies the felting community with natural fibers and felting equipment, tutorials, etc. Great group of people.
This morning I finished the clutch and the case and they are now ready for gifting or selling. In this case as a combined gift for my daughter - who appreciates hand crafted items over mass marketed.
I included pictures of the finishing and the finished project. Let me know what you think.
