Hello guys! Today I have the first Mermaids for you. I sketched them based on the fish studies from yesterday.

Previously I mentioned drawing fishes for 2 days in my Mermaid Challenge Plan, but the plan is there for guidance not to limit me. So instead I will try to do the digital fish study tomorrow ^^

I drew all of these with the same steps. I started with a rough circle for the head and added the chin. Afterwards I used a single wavy line to sort of define the whole body's pose. This gives the Mermaid a much more dynamic feeling.

Then I defined the torso with generic construction lines. I didn't worry about the Mermaid being generic rather focused on creating various tales, fins and hair.

I didn't finish the last Mermaid as it was getting late :)

Also I'm changing the rules for the quilling contest!
You don't need to show process. The only theme is quilling not mandala and the winner will be chosen randomly. It still has to be 100% your work :) Good luck!

Update:
It was late yesterday so I forgot to add a favorite song and artist and some extra :D

Favorite artist:
Draw with Jazza: https://www.youtube.com/user/DrawWithJazza
Not my style but his videos are the best and always make me laugh and enjoy art to the fullest ^^

Favorite song:
Lady Of Worlds by Miracle Of Sound
Lots of other incredible songs by Miracle of Sound as well :D

Legend: Rusalka

A Slavic Mermaid that used to be associated with fertility before 19th century.

In 19th century versions, a rusalka is an unquiet, dangerous being who is no longer alive, associated with the unclean spirit. According to Dmitry Zelenin, young women, who either committed suicide by drowning due to an unhappy marriage (they might have been jilted by their lovers or abused and harassed by their much older husbands) or who were violently drowned against their will (especially after becoming pregnant with unwanted children), must live out their designated time on earth as rusalki. However, the initial Slavic lore suggests that not all rusalki occurrences were linked with death from water.

I like number 4 and 5 the most. I also like the very delicate tail fin on number 3. This is a great way to learn.

Thank you! Those are my favorite as well :D
Definitely useful exercise ^^

I like 3 best--cool tail!

Thank you! ^^

Thanks for being active in the @minnowsupport community!

Thank you! :D

They are very nice designs you made it would be great to see them in color! Thank you for sharing it with us :)

Thank you ^^ I will use some of the design ideas in future for more detailed and colorful mermaids.

Number 3 tale is awesome...nr 5 is also cool, reminded me of the creature from the movie shape of weather 👌🏼😁

Thank you :D I will try to use it in the future ^^

I like cravia's tail and trivea's hair :) And they all look really graceful.

Thank you :D
