First look at @neverwel artwork!

What’s up, Hive?! I’m really looking forward to tonight’s post. I just saw @roelandp’s post about Hivefest in September. I’ve never made it to the event, and the few I missed […for one reason or another], I missed without knowing a global pandemic was on the horizon. I think I can actually swing this this year. Does this mean the fateful @eveuncovered x @kommienezuspadt dark pinup shoot is actually going to happen?! @lovejoy has never seen a plane he didn’t want to fly to some far off land, so I’ll start planning with him. I haven’t been to Europe since I was arrested in Paris in 2011!

Tonight, I’m mixing it up. I want to share some of the work I’ve been doing for @mirrorpool. I’m going to have to set the stage. In the fall of last year, I resigned as CCO at @facingsofficial. My goals had become decoupled from the company’s goals. I wanted to create sets like Dark Pinup and The Strange & Unusual, and @facingsofficial was trying to build a SaaS platform. When I left, the entire art department left as well, including @swarddraws. He and I had works on GPK’s, Mars Attacks and Alien NFT releases for Topps.

With that kind of experience, we were at a crossroads. We could go back to our regular freelance lives, or we could try to create our own thing, art and artist-centric, which became @mirrorpool. One of our first in-house projects is a dramatic saga called @neverwel. @neverwel is an NFT set, an art collection and eventually, a game. We’ve been world building for months and we’re moving closer to our genesis release this summer. Some of this art is the work I’m most proud of.

@swarddraws is way faster than I am and he’s sitting on a trove of incredible art as well, but I’ll let him share it here on Hive. I have a pretty reliable compass for that which brings me happiness and starting @mirrorpool was an exercise on betting on ourselves. As the project matures and I see this art collected in a blog post, it really hits me how gratifying it is to pour countless hours in to something you know is authentically, “you”. More from @neverwel to come soon, but for now, I hope you enjoyed the art.
