Vera - Faith - commission portrait 🎨

in #art6 years ago

Few months ago I was asked by very good friend of mine, to do portrait commission of his children.
Usually I avoid dong that kind of commission work, since portrait is a tricky business if you don't know person or if it's not sitting in front of you.
Doing portrait work from a photo can easily slip into something like painting a corpse..my opinion, doesn't mean I am right. I just love to have real person in front, since, it's not essential that portrait of someone has to be his exact picture, we already have camera for that, don't we?
But finding that character, something that is unique for that person, it's hard to catch from a photo.

Nevertheless I said ok, but I have to do it my way.
Send me photos, I will choose one I like and than I will do it my way.
So, it was like that.
Her name is Vera, and in my language it means faith.

Going over her photos, I got impression she is one little dreamer who loves to play, like every child does.
So, here is final work.
Hope you will find this one interesting since it took me a longer time than usual for portrait work.

Изванредно, @jungwatercolor :)

Sutra cu d apostujem i drugi portret, dve su devojcice, Tara I Vera.

Lovely painting... It looks like peaceful!
Thanks for sharing.

she seems lost in deep thought, love her

Yes, her father says she is totally relaxed and dreamy, but also bossy and she is fearless girl :) And she is only five hahaha.

hi @jungwatercolor
it seems to me a wonderful portrait! I can perceive her dreams and her sweetness. I think your friend will be happy with this result.
congratulations and thanks for sharing with us!

Yes he is, he already took painting from studio. Thank you so much @road2horizon.

I'm sure Vera loved her portrait. It's a work of art that you just did. I like that you yourself have overcome your own principles. You did a great job with the details of the background.

Thank you, and yes, sometimes we should think about our principles and how to adjust them. Results can be good from time to time :)

Absolutely lovely.
I loved the concept, the oniric air, the combination of colors. It reminds me of the workd of Dalí.
Your friend must be thrilled with this portrait. Congratulations

Thank you @hlezama :) And that's really flattering mentioning Dali!

Omg, I loved it, Wish you lived nearby and I could convince you to portrait me, cloud9 thing for me :)

:) who knows, maybe one day I will make some portrait of yours, life is a strange thing !

Dunja, I love how you gathered as much intuitive information about Vera from all the photographs and then used your creativity to let her playful spirit emerge. Beautifully painted. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

Thank you dear Ally, I did a bit of research, and it happens usually when I go into some subject. Before painting and sketching goes a lot of thinking and connecting things and ideas.

I know exactly what you mean Dunja. All the thinking and experimenting even before you begin is so essential and then as you work the ideas continue to flow. If not always for the current painting but another one in the future. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

Such an interesting artwork you have in there. And life without art is no fun at all. I really loved how you treat the artwork and it made it look more interesting. The Browns made it awesome and brought out the art in the great manner.
I really enjoyed watching the artwork over and over again. Thanks for sharing

Heyy @jungwatercolor! It looks awesome!
What was the reaction of your friend? :) And the girl? Did she like it too?

Thank you for asking, parents are thrilled, but still no info how the girls took it :) It's tricky with kids, they are the hardest and most honest public. Hope I will do well :)

Hahaha you're right about kids being very honest :)
Recently I got the comment that I don't cook as much as their mother :)) And they're right too :P
Thanks for sharing!

You're right, I find it interesting but more interesting is how you are able to choose a photo and see something in it.
The painting is very nice, I love the concept and hope the family liked it too. You really did a great job placing the little dreamer in that blue environment, which is water and air. Excellent choice for her dark blond hair. Marvelous, well done, congratulations!

Thank you @erikah, it wasn't the easiest job I admit, but I enjoyed working it.

That is the most important thing!
