Those beautiful creatures called owls

in #art7 years ago

Steemit and being here made me go trough archive of my work over the years. Thank you Steemit for reminding me :).
And yesterday during that going over I came across watercolors of owls.

It's funny since I hadn't tried out my self much in birds and animals..Even during my art education I was only like mad man drawing people and when we had to do classic study of still nature, it was like...kill me pleaseee!!!

But one year, to be precise for my first solo exhibition ( one whom I posted today painting from), I asked one dear lady, art critic, to write me a rewie of exhibition in catalog for show. And she made beautiful and bit intimate text.

We didn't talked about money, how much she will charge for her work...and Finally when it came to that, she didn't want any...So I found my self in situation ..what To do???

And then came to my mind, she likes watercolors and she adores owls...and I started doing them...

This is the first I made, and became hypnotised with their eyes

And at the same time finding out how incredible creatures they are..Most of them find one mate for whole life, and they can turn their heads to angle of 270 degrees!

I think the real reason I was so fascinated with them is that they have facial expressions, almost like humans..And their babies are puffy cute, can't resist them..

And yes, lady was so happy when I gave her present...

thanks, hope you've enjoyed it :)))

So cute :) Love it.

Thank you :) and you keep doodling ...

These are so beautiful!
Please make more watercolor animals, this style of yours is absolutely mesmerizing.

Owls are one of my favorite spirit birds.

Thank you @erikdenoorman, I will. As I said in post there are more of them, I will post them in next days, don't want to bore people here with 10 posts a day :)

very nice. do you use pencil first or start with watercolor?

Yes, in 90% of my work I do, only when I'm doing forests, in one of prewious blogs I explained it, then I don't. It's hard to do this kind of work without drawing, don't you think?

Beautiful! I love owls and you captured their essence perfectly! Very nice! Bravo! The last one is my favorite. The blue, in my mind sets it in a winter wonderland. :)

Thaks @stillwater :) more to come this days.

I just love your watercolor works :-)

Upvoted and followed.

These are so beautiful as well! I can definitely see that your work is going to help inspire me to continue my rediscovery of watercolor. :)

Thank you, following your work, love your writing also :) very positive way of seeing life :)

wow, if these are your first owl paintings, I give up

lol

beautiful expressive work, and I suppose you are going to tell me how quick they were too.

I could spend three weeks and not get them so wonderfully alive and captured.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised if you search out that artist I mentioned in the other comment. If you can't find anything I have a huge book (yes a book) here of his bird paintings. I could take a few snapshots of some of the pages, they are an incredible tour de force.

Your ability to capture expressions reminds me of him, even though the style is different.

until another moment

big hugs

Thank you again @spaingaroo, well i must admit, work hasn't been soo fast :) First drawing has to be done, and I leave layers of watercolor to dry, sometimes over night, because watercolor is fast but not that much. And if you are working on papers as I am, 300gr and more, they don't dry that fast to see full range of color.

So adorable! I've recently become fascinated with owls. You have captured their expressions so well!

Thank you @stillwatersart! They are truly expresive cretures. If you are not informed about their life and habits try to find out. When I started painting them at the same time I started learning about them, they are incredible.

you love owls <3 ive only done two owls so far :) I also have a friend who made an owl drawing so well. check it out
