I could very well be starting a commissioned painting. I certainly hope so.
Here is the quick sketch I did for the client based on the photos I was sent...
It's a bit rough, but it's a half hours' worth of work... :)
(red colored pencil, 2B graphite pencil, white chalk pencil over a neutral painted piece of drawing paper)
Hopefully I will be posting updates on this, if not... well, I suppose I can change it into something else...
Great start, they should be pleased with what you can do for them, i hope you get the gig!
As a budding artist starting out myself, i'd be interested in a post on how you go about finding commission work?
Sure, well this one was just being lucky. I hunt around all over really, but there's a freelance site called "Upwork". Not much is posted there, but you can find things once in awhile. A lot of times , my commission stuff is simply word of mouth, or they've seen my work at shows, or online. I've gotten a couple from people just seeing my site through Instagram as well. I've found if I cast my "social media" net wider and wider, I catch more fish...
All great info thanks. I've been adverse to social media for years, always hated facebook (don't trust Zucker) and twitter is a rage cesspool. Steemit so far has been a great experience and the chance of actually getting some returns is a good incentive so i've started out here. I guess Instagram can be worth it since it has a good reach (Zucker again thou). I suppose i should make a website! Some art shows would be a good idea, not a lot of them around where i live thou.
Thanks for the info and good luck, i hope you get a lot more work!
And , THANK YOU, by the way... I appreciate it!

Wow, looks like a great start!
Yeah, I'm feeling it! The client was talking about a 6'x3' painting (Jeepers!) but we'll see how this turns out! :)
nice sketch and in 1/2 hour! you're a very quick sketcher!
I like to get the information down quick... I can solve a lot of the problems in a piece easily with a few quicker sketches... and , the more you sketch, the quicker you get! :)
yes so true...I just spend too much time thinking about it ;-)
