I have no clue what or who is Doctor Who.
I have to admit I have never seen even a millisecond of any Doctor Who show or movie or whatever it is. Not sure if this is something I missed growing up, if it's on currently, or what. I do know that one of my college dorm mates eventually went on to have a Doctor Who themed wedding, but I only know that through facebook.
Also, I'm not an artist. I don't have any business entering this contest but I thought it would be a good stretch for me and after spending some time today drawing the Beginner level option, I really did enjoy the process!
So here's my process and drawing of Tardis from Doctor Who for the Doctor Who edition of Learn to Draw With Friends set up by @tonyr.
I started out by drawing some straight lines using an envelope from a bill that was within arm's reach:
Then I made some more lines to connect and make the basic shape of the Tardis:
Then on to some basic shapes for the doors and windows:
Starting to color it in:
Then I decided it should be less wide, so I did some erasing and made it less wide:
Back to coloring, and starting off some darker areas along the door:
Shading:
Some more shading and blurring of shading:
Finished up the letters:
And here's the final drawing:
And for all my lefties out there, this one's for you:

good job.. now can you please draw the INSIDE ;-) he he
Hahah not sure I would know where to begin.... :)
i wonder if you know that the inside of the Tardis is VERY big, much bigger than the outside looks.. thats the joke.. if u dont know doctor who then you wouldnt know that.. ;-)
HAHAHAHA! This is awesome - here i was confused about why people were asking me about the INSIDE of this phone booth. Oh boy. I'm lost on so many cultural / media references....Thank you SO much for shedding light on this for me :) ::embarrassed::
oh dont be embarrassed.. dr who has a relatively small following.. its great because its simple, not all high tech special effects but just cozy characters and fun interesting stories..
nice Drawing
Nice sketche,
For someone who says they are not an artist you have done a pretty good job of putting together a fabulous entry for the contest and a brilliant process post to accompany it @jaymorebeet! :)
Thank you so much for taking the time and going to the effort of entering my little contest. I am very honoured!
I hope your day is going well my friend and good luck to you! :)
Thanks so much @tonyr! I definitely didn't think it would be as fun as it was to draw this. You're wise for having 3 levels so that beginners like me aren't scared away :)) Thanks for your kindness and I will definitely be doing your contest again!!
There are a few who have taken part who are drawing for the first time in years and loving it which really pleases me. :) I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself @jaymorebbet and we would be very pleased to have you join us any time! :)
I will be definitely joining in again- if I have time I may try the intermediate eeeeek!
That's great news @jaymorebeet. I'm sure you will do a great job of the intermediate if you do find the time. Once you get started I'm sure you'll find it easier than you think. :)
Incredible progress post @jaymorebeet - This is what we all love to see. It really helps others understand the drawing process. Smudgy hand LOL The sign of a true artist.
My son is a lefty for most things, including writing and drawing. Makes it a bit more challenging trying to teach him things when I have to always remember it's the opposite of how I'm used to doing it.
Yes - I had no idea how process-driven the whole drawing thing is. One step at a time. Yes, I was the only lefty in my family growing up and I remember being frustrated at several things! Can openers killed me! Thanks for your kind words and encouragement @steempowerpics! Tell your son it will be AOK :)
:-) will do - thanks.
Good job on this! Now you have a new skill to develop and share with steemit!
Not sure I'd go that far yet....let's not get ahead of ourselves here :) )
I appreciate your enthusiasm :)
Now you have a new skill very good job! Im so happy for you! Chaching$$$$
Thanks @errymil! I've never done drawing before, but I definitely see that I've been missing something in my life. Now i wonder what OTHER things I haven't tried yet that I would love to do....life is too short!!
Yes my friend, im really happy for you! Keep making art, the more you practice it, the more evolved it would be, just make art from the heart! Save this picture and always look back to it year by year, and you will notice the changes happening right before your eyes
Heeyy really nice draw you've done :)
And if it's not too much...would you mind check out my blog too?
Thanks so much @nirolf59! I appreciate it - I'll check out your blog!
nice talent man
Thanks @gunsmasterrock :)
Haha! You did a god job on the tardis! I watched the original Dr. Who series when I was a teen in the 60's - way before your time, I guess!
Yeah. I wasn't even an idea yet in the 60s :) - is it worth the watch?
Not sure. Lol! It was back in the 60s, but there have been many different actors and series over the years, and I have not seen any of them! It's like Star Trek. To me the only true one is the original one. Dr. Who has a following like Star Trek and I know they have conventions in the UK!
Very cool! Really enjoyed the progression. Upvoted & ReSteemed!
Awesome! Thanks @lrich! Definitely out of my wheelhouse, but it was fun nonetheless :) The challenge is still open for a few more days so check out @tonyr 's feed if you're interested!!
haha, I don't have an artistic bone in my body!
Welp you never know until you try!!! :) juuust kidding :)
Interesting, I have these same Dr. Suess pencils.
Target?
All signs point to yes. :)
Cool post @jaymorebeet, with a really nice end result. And I like the little color splash from Dr. Suess Cat in the Hat pencil.
Great job!!! Up-voted and re-steemed.
Thanks so much @cognoscere!! It was the only sharp-ish pencil I could find on short order!
Well done @jaymorebeet .... well done 👍🏻
Thanks @beyondmountains! Let's see your entry.....!?!
You have really missed some good tv.
Aw man really? I guess I might give it a go!
Great art work!
Thanks so much @leelai25!! Glad you liked it!
Awesome awesome drawing!! I wish I could draw! And I love Doctor Who!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks @alovelymess! Apparently Doctor Who is a show that I should watch... :)
Lefties are teh rule!
Yaayyyy! Smudgy hands have nothin on us!
I love it. Great capture of Doctor Who. I did watch it when I was younger. But, I didn't watch any of the newer ones. There are some shows in my mind that can never compete with their originals. Thanks for sharing this, you did a great job.
Ok it looks like I'm going to have to look into watching the original then! Thanks @beccadeals!
If you do get a chance to watch it, I hope you enjoy it.
I like the job you did! Enjoyed your post)
Thanks for checking it out @travelmuse! Glad you liked it! :)
Great work, you "non-artist" :P
Well thanks @fungusmonk ☺️
follow for follow @dkinx
ayayay! @jaymorebeet! just saw this. great job on the TARDIS and the progression narrative....
my brit colleague has asked me where I have been all my life missing a show that's been running from 1963, but yeah, at least now I have even the faintest idea as to who Doctor Who is. lol
PS - wanna give send you a leftie fist bump from my son! haha... i was also a leftie when I was starting to write, but my mom asked my teacher to "correct" me back then. But I would say a lot of things I do are still majorly left-handed. hehe
Yayy Lefties! Oh no I'm so sad you were molded to be a righty! Grrrrr....
Hmmm.... I forgot from where I heard, but they say that it is not good to "correct" a child on whichever should be his dominant hand because he loses his creativity? Or something like that, not sure. That is why I just let my son be. Haha
I can still write pretty legibly with my left hand and lots of things I still unconsiously do left handed.
Thanks girl! I'm glad to see someone else out there in the same boat as me :)
Love this post, I admire people who can draw. Thank-you for sharing part of your leftie life.😉🐓
I would not consider myself to be someone who can draw but I'm glad someone thinks I can :) thanks lady!
Well apparently it is!!!
