Here’s an invented landscape I finished today :)
A Restful Sunset
11" x 14"
Oil on canvas
Greetings fellow Steemians!
In today’s post I thought I’d share and discuss my latest invented landscape painting.
At first I began with a very simplified block in. I then proceeded to lay in the ground plane.
After massing in the foreground, using mixtures of ivory black, yellow ocher and venetian red I then started working on the trees in the distance. About this time I decided to leave out the previously chosen plan to put trees closer to the foreground.
To get a better idea on the color and value scheme I was aiming for, I then started filling in some of the sky and warmer tones of the sunset closer to the horizon line.
Now that I had the canvas covered, I then began to refine some edges; like where the sky meets the trees and the edges of the water for example.
And lastly, at this stage I then started to make some small adjustments on some of the clouds.
..Aaannd it's finished!
The palette I used for this painting was titanium white, cadmium yellow light, yellow ocher, cadmium red, venetian red, ultramarine blue, and ivory black.
Please feel free to let me know what you think?
Thanks for reading Everyone!
