Sunflower

in #art7 years ago (edited)

I have always loved sunflowers they remind me of the human condition. Deeply rooted in earth's soil and yet best known for following the sun across the sky. Very much like we can comprehend the cosmos and partake in the noble odyssey of figuring out what the reason for consciousness is, and yet are rooted to our mortality. We are essentially food for worms doomed to hedonic adaptation. It's really kind of sad when you think about it. We have a brief moment in the sun where we are the universe able to comprehend itself then we move on and become other forms of matter and energy. Yet all we have done is make life a parody of itself both cynical and absurd.received_1134769559880672.jpg

Cool art work and nice symbolism. I love sunflowers and they really are like people in so many ways. As they grow and slowly open they reflect different human personalities as they reach different stages in thier life, especially as the petals slowly open. I am interested to know what materials you used?

Thank you so much I wholeheartedly agree, and this was done with a jar of black India ink and a detail brush on multimedia paper.

Awesome! I love using ink, I suspected that is what it might be but I thought it best to ask. I look forward to seeing and reading some more posts, I find the writing which accompanies your art pieces unique and interesting :-) See you around Steemit

As do I, but I feel like I have a long way to go before I'm proficient in its use. Thank you I find that getting thoughts down on paper is the best way to declutter one's mind and sometimes drawing doesn't suffice so I write. I noticed you're an artist as well I can't wait to see more of your work.

Ink is such a rewarding medium to use, stick with it. I too find I need to write at times to clear my mind but I ramble in a diary I keep of my thoughts and anxieties lol! Anyway its nice to meet a budding and talented artist :-)

thank you it's good to meet you as well
