A recent painting I did of Lucian Freud and the process. He is known as one of the foremost 20th century portraitists.

I began with the eyes and filled in the basic tones.

Nearly completed, some areas are too strong so I added some water mixed with acrylic spread lightly over the face (usually reds and blues).

Finished piece.
