Since we moved houses 3x since 2020, I didn't really have a studio that I can call a permanent one. The first was in my parents' house but it felt limiting. Then another one when I lived alone but it wasn't really a studio - more like an office room with cats and it was small since there was a bed there too (that I don't use) so I never really painted in there. Now that we just moved to a bigger place, I now have an own room for painting.
Before I started painting, I had to put a protective cover on the floor as to not stain it. I taped a plastic as the first layer on the whole floor and then some big papers on top. The paper will help absorb the paint drops while also protecting the plastic underneath from tearing. Then the plastic underneath that will prevent the paint and other liquids to bleed through the floor because it will definitely bleed since I don't have the thickest paper on top lol. It's not much but it works. :D
I also have new acrylic mediums and additives to experiment with. One is a retarder that will slow down the dry time of the paint. Acrylic dries so fast and it's one of the reasons why it was quite hard for me to transition from oil to acrylic since I'm used to paint that dries slow. The retarder gives me like 40% more time to work on the paint and blend and shit before it completely dries.
What's nice is that they don't give out some toxic fumes unlike oil painting mediums and solvents.
Also I've been looking for years (I don't know why I wasn't able to research properly haha) for a medium/additive that will allow me to use as much as water as I want without it weakening the structure of my paint. Apparently, this exists. It's been really good so far and I use this as some sort of paint-dripping effect without having to use thick mediums/paint.
And the cats have been curious as ever. They can't be here as much tho cos my dog stays inside the room often, and they hate each other lol.
I got this green coverall from a fast fashion brand Forever21. This is supposed to be some weird casual fashion you'd wear anywhere but I thought it would be perfect as my artist-uniform. XD Instead of using an apron, I wanted a coverall since well... it covers everything. Apron still has some instances to stain your clothes + this screams "artist" to me so. XD
The cloth is surprisingly good and soft considering Forever21 is a shitty fast fashion brand that uses cheap materials for high prices. :p
Anyway, I'm taking it easy for now since this is my first art in months. So many shit going on that I had to deal with first so I'm not gonna be all perfectionist in this painting and will just let it flow. I didn't do much planning although I did a lot of thinking.
This will be exhibited in Paris, France again but I don't want to stress myself that much and just let my subconscious do the shit. :D
Holy shit, thats a huge canvas, and its going to be exposed in paris? Bruhh! Nice going Vy! Lil'artist
It's the biggest canvas so far lol. It's taller than me, even!
OMG! That last photo 😍😍😍 I really want to paint but after I finish a painting, the mess I make is a headache. So, I always have a second thought.
But in your photos you seem to be so organized and neat. I hope I can do that also because, I don’t have a studio. I do my artworks in my bedroom. Now with my wife (just married).🤣
Exactly why I want a studio for painting so I don't have to clean up everytime. It's also what I hate about using oil paint cos you really have to clean the brushes properly with solvents but with acrylic you can just dip it in water and forget about it hahah.
It's only organized because it's new. 🤣 But I do my best to maintain it that way. :D I used to do paintings in the bedroom as well but the good thing about cleaning up is it will become a habit later on which will benefit you in the long run.
Congrats! Best wishes for you and your wife! :o
Wow - you already know that the not-yet-painted painting will be exhibited in Paris? Very nice - congrats!!
Have a studio is great especially if you work traditionally. I paint with acrylics here and there and love using a retarder. Haven't tried that flow aid yet.
The coverall is smart and looks great. Show it to us in about year with paint all over it 🤣
Yes, the curators invited me even though the painting is not yet made haha. I have my works exhibited there before, so they already know my works. :D
It's hard to not have a studio or even just a space specifically for painting cos then you'd have to be really careful not to spill any or clean up the mess every session. It's like a best thing an artist can have haha.
The retarder is one of the best acrylic mediums that existed. Probably gonna be in top 3 mediums I think every artist needs. :D
The coverall will look like a canvas soon since I like wiping my brushes there than looking for my rag every time!

I love the last painting a lot.
This is really beautiful
Thank you! Although it is still very much in progress haha
Really and it like a finishes product already..you are good 💯
I'm terrible at drawing myself, so I have a lot of respect for those who do it. The paintings are full of creativity. By the way, your cat is so cute. What's its name?
Thank you! Her name is Terena. She's shy and doesn't show herself when other people are around. There are currently only 2 people (aside from myself) she's comfortable with tho lol
My friend's cat was the same way. When I went to her house, she would hide behind the sofa and refuse to come out until I left. It took her 4 months to get used to me lol. Pet Terena by the neck for me 🐈.
Loving the color blend and I’m finding it hard to differentiate which is the art, the cat or the painting lol
Green looks good on you too!
Hahah probably the cat🤣 steals the show
How do you manage cats and dogs in one house? I have two dogs and they hate each other 🤣
The cats also hate each other and cats vs dogs too🤣 They just hide when the dog’s nearby and also hiss at him hahah. The dog will chase them sometimes and I just tell him to stop lol.
Dogs hating each other? That sounds hard! What do they do?🤣
They fight all the fricking time. The funny thing is one is an introvert but the other is the opposite so you can imagine the commotion 😂
At least your dog listen to stop, mine only listen to sit and she doesn’t if there’s no treat!
Nice format! I like big paintings. Also You have there a lot of light - nice for studio. Keep up! Arrr!!!
I’m also starting to understand why most artists prefer big canvases like this… it’s heavy and huge but really satisfying and easier to paint on! Haha the light is just natural light from the window and just a led light on the ceiling. The white walls and floor really made a big difference making the room brighter. I love white walls!
Having your studio now after many relocations is a great one as you can now settle down and face your artwork. I must commend this job, it's great..the color blend is amazing too and then your green outfit for the job, wow...you are looking stunning on it🤗👍
this green coverall is amazing :) you can wear it everywhere :-)
