RE: 🎨 "Dominium" - original painting/collage in acrylics

in #art7 years ago

It dries within minutes and it's not water soluble once it's dry, so it's possible to paint in layers without having to wait for days or weeks. It also allows the creation of various textures and it can be used with the airbrush.

Thanks for the info @gric Do you use lighting reference or maquettes? This kind of diffuse light scenario is hard to nail but this looks wonderfully soft and natural. Also the white over the brown creates a nice cool/warm contrast.

I built the geometry in 3D software and used this as a reference for the perspective. I then used the airbrush to add the soft light and the shadows.

If I like the paint to stay open longer - like with decalcomania technique - I use Golden Open

I never actually have the need to keep acrylics longer open.

I used to do decalcomania super fast - with age I slowed down, and it works best if you take your time with it. I should be doing it with oils, but I can't stand the smell.
