Thank you ver much @reddragonfly, its been a long time since i red such an accurate article about the business part of art:) As an artist, i use collage as a medium for the past 13 years, i struggled to balance the art and money part.
The one method i devised to price my artwork and i still use today is multiply the 8 hour days i spend with the average days pay in Greece (my country) plus the cost of material plus the value i believe i have right now as an artist .
I try to be as subjective as i can! hahaha
I am always active and always interested in participating in art shows.
You are welcome to follow me and see some of my artwork:)
Thanks for the comment @georgeboya!
One of the "pricing methods" I often recommend to artists (and crafts people) is to determine what you want your "day rate" to be. Forget about "hours" because they can easily be used for this and that, and lunch and a friend coming by. Your day rate is partly determined by what is the body of work you create in what you consider a full day. If you say "My day rate is 200 Euro" and you can make 3 items, then they must have a lowest price of 67 Euro each. If you can make 10, then lowest price would be 20 Euro each, and so on... that's a good starting point. If that is difficult to to (with some art, like ceramics and painting, it can be) multiply by 7 and see what you make in a week.
that's a good rule @redddragonfly :) i can see the logic but because of my artwork its part researching and part collaging i cannot really determine my day rate ( 2 hours one day 5 another etc). i II try to think about your suggestion:) thank you very much.
