Yes, it's long ago now since I wrote my last post here and even more time passed since I published the last article. Quite a lot happened since then so there would actually be too much to tell. But I soon came to the point that instead of of figuring out which single topic to handle, which thing to tell you next, instead of choosing or concentrating to one specificity, to one individual entity of recent and ongoing works, I'd do something more close to my general methodological approach... I'd do it differently and tell you something about all of them.
Too many things from right now or recently and too much to tell from way back then – we would happen to see if there'd be even something new emerging out of this here. If not, then that would be fine as well.
I came around quite a bit those weeks, away and back.. ..but even what has happened after coming home to Vienna seemed far too much for here and now. Clearly, everything to be mentioned in the following paragraphs may be worth an own article and if anyone has some preference, I'd be thankful to also let you decide what to explain and show in detail next.
Anyway,
there's this Trojan Seahorse that after starting its metamorphosis in Lake Constance (Bodensee) and dipping into and finding its shape near the Mediterranean sea happened to take a pit stop for some more adjustments and to perform at Urban Playground AV Festival in the horse stables of Creau.
Then there's this other collaborative project I was working on these days. Sure, the car being fully packed with structures while crossing Switzerland twice it was time for widening collaboration with Conny Zenk while visiting her while residing in the Chretzeturm in Stein am Rhein. My potential contribution to her project SelfieDreamer has been discussed for some months so I then happened to come right on time for taking part in the premiere at the old monastery Sankt Georgen.
Later, the focus lay on the following performance in Seestadt, Vienna on May 19th – time flies, even that is now more than 3 weeks ago. Various structural concepts have been merged for this latest event, while others – like this 'Dream Machine' thing – have been created but didn't launch yet. Also the basic cube – explained some months ago – took an interactive part ...and then there was this quite strange object being mentioned later.
The sculpture used in Switzerland has originally been built as a heptagonal version of a cube for being part of the multimedia performance FoundInSeaTown [Zak Ray] & has then been changed to an octagonal structure for an exhibition at Die Labile Botschaft. While the idea for that initially came up regarding an event that then was canceled, also this dream machine I mentioned is another, smaller and slightly modified version of that octagonal structure.
...you know, 'Evolving Structures',...
As you can see, not only the geometric basis for materializing new objects is being varied, but also sculptures themselves are being changed over time. Consequently, I do now also start to call them 'Evolving Sculptures', it's how my objects were initially labeled by Jan Lauth ...who is btw also part of that Trojan Seahorse Project.
LostinSeetown, the preceding version of its 'finding' counterpart does also go too far for right now, the initial occurrence of the sculpture built for it seems quite long ago. This one doesn't really evolve a lot in terms of structure – but it keeps learning and it keeps traveling ..and one day it will for sure be also centered descriptively.
Also this other structure, the closed-loop one I wanted to write about for months has been installed at DoTank in Montpellier before leaving. On a short trip to Sète it served a quite interesting installation to open closed spaces. It is to be folded to a double helix – but still I haven't managed to even explain how its very basic construction and helical folding principles happened to emerge. At least I happened to upload this Video from last year to D.Tube.
...I guess it now also gets time to show to you the video from this performance in Venice about half a year ago,...
You may already see the question being raised how to cope with quite an amount of construction-related and methodological information relevant for being documented and analyzed. Still, the freedom to be claimed is the principle of in the widest sett not letting traditional approaches limit the potential or interrupt the flow of a serially and laterally ongoing discovery process. That may apparently happen in other ways.
So let's now widen this whole story a little bit.
Another project to be handled in detail is this Seesaw thing. I'm working now on this functional solution for it to really be applicable soon. You know, seesaws, this playground thing with persons sitting opposite of each other, one going up and the other going down. There are also those versions carrying four people crosswise – now I happened to develop something similar, only that those persons sitting opposite are for the first time not moving against but together with each other.
Just imagine doing so and you'll feel the need – which is indeed a good example for those really important problems to be created :)
Actually, the seesaw’s whole series of development is very interesting – evolving from the dormant concept of an audio-sensitive space until – exactly: the re-invention of the wheel.
There are those neural network structures. And there is also this '3er-Switch'-branch of my works (...you know, zero, one and one more...), both are reaching far into the field of information technology.
Then there's this new concept that is structurally merging seemingly contradictory symbols of diplomacy.
There are those developments of sphere structures and private spaces that are currently being widened regarding the Time Sphere Concept (with Jan Lauth/SeeLab, SeppRothwangl, Julia Kunert and many others). Regarding this, some really nice geometric solutions happened to emerge during the last few weeks in an even to me quite remarkable way.
Then there's also this dimensioning thing aiming for structures to be materialized in a much wider range of scale as up to this point.
...which also means that there's this by definition never ending project...
Sure, there's this Evolving Sculpture at Flederhaus using also illuminated wires – but that project will be presented only after the next stage of growth.
I do always nearly forget to think about this new material I'm working on for some months now – a small installation has one day already been shown in a spontaneous post.
There are many more projects to write about – and then there is also this one project I do not write about yet.
As you can see or guess here,
the question is not just what I should write about, but also and especially what to do (next). And again, the solution is not only about choosing from possibilities, it's to write about and to do whatever, to do everything– 'alles Mögliche' – more or maybe rather less at the same time.
Sure, somewhere there is also a list of what to possibly write about – and sure, there are dozens of lists of what to do next. But I will probably not look at them before they are to be seen as just another document of how good conceptualized things are being automatized and implemented to a let's say more subconscious level.
I don't really mind what to build next. So, 'yesterday' – now already last month – I managed to build a Tesseract. This 4-dimensional Hypercube may according to those rules of traditional euclidean space not even be possible, but it anyhow, as a background object, already took part in last week's performance. It's an interesting thing, merging strict structural logic and widely chaotic appearance it is a inherently polymorph and interactive, an in- and evertable structure. Everywhere it is different but the same, you can change everything but nothing is really changing. Objectively there's not to be distinct between back and forth or out- and inside. While finally emerging, the whole former outside is becoming one equal center of many. If opened, every of those conceptual points can become something like the whole firmament.
It seems that also I am something like everywhere. It needed A colleague to one day show me this relevance in my own speech – 'I wanted to become many things, now I happened to do everything'. And also this here is probably not a solution for anything, but it for sure is one for everything.
If it's now about doing all those things or something else, or rather about doing something else by doing all those things – combining means to have more or less to do, or more and less. Every new concept could just be a recollection. So here also those sculptural paintings are to be mentioned – and their exhibitions.
Then, sure, one time I thought that maybe I should just write about sitting here and writing – working outside in the roof garden during those warm summer nights even if it was still April, May or now already June. But that seemed to be more like something else.
But, right, I could really write about my writing. I did and do write in terms of linguistic experimentation – even quite a lot. Whatever you want to call it, most of it is emerging from and in my still carinthian accent. I do experience this kind of work not only as a good way to cognitively collect and store information, but by exposing relations also to generate conceptual material.
Then I could also write about this slightly different kind of writing, those theoretical and methodological explorations. I could write about my quite periodic trips to the mountains to really stick to them. ..& sure, also about those potential papers and thesis – or again, about their structuring.
The whole thing
can indeed be percieved as just some kind of noise and one could easily be bored of this seemingly quite detached approach. But it doesn't matter if this here is for you or maybe just a short reflection for me 'not getting lost'. If you don't lose overview you can obviously be somewhere, but if you get lost you could be anywhere. I guess that only in this case you can also get everywhere. ...geographically or conceptually ..right, there are also those close interrelationships to traveling.
I guess this has been here long before us, but sure, one could say 'new times, new way to treat information' (Sitterwerk). No more limiting and encyclopedically listed 'totalities' but constant conceptual development through the lateral following of connections, 'Hyperlinks'.
You see, instead of merging those few projects that were mentioned, writing the article like that by referring to this approach of just handling everything led back to this also to me not very new general methodology. Even better, Now I remember that about one year ago those theoretical aspects have already been implemented in my construction-related conceptualization. Since then, all projects are also conceptually being merged to one overarching 'giant'. I'm building planets and yes, somehow I'm building life itself. Here I did forget to think about that before, so this, finally, is the last project to mention here. It covers all of them, even those that haven't even occurred yet. Only now I remember, while also before, without even thinking, I did already write about it – very interesting times!
