Magic light! It must be seen!

in #art8 years ago

Good afternoon!

My name is Evgeniy. I am 23 years old. I live in Kazan (Russia). Have you ever wondered what if it is possible to freeze the light? No, I do not want to talk about the physical theory of the possibility of freezing the light. I want to tell you about my hobby .I am engaged in freezelight. At first sight, it seems that it is impossible to freeze the light. However, I will show you the wonders that can be!

Freezelight is photographing at slow shutter speeds, with specially painted light objects and abstractions. Freezelight – is amazing frozen light art into a photo. Freezelight also called lightpaintning, painting of light, light graffiti, but these names are means one thing - light painting.

A little bit of history: The "light painting" started in 1949, when famous photographer from the “Life” magazine Guyon Miles came to the studio of Pablo Picasso. He invited Pablo to joint experiments with new photo technique. Guyon attached small lights to shoes of skaters As a result, you can see the trace that hanging in the air on following photo. Then this photographic technique has been named "drawing in space» (space drawing). Impressed, Picasso decided to try his abilities, using the same technique. We can say that the great artist was the founder of "Freezelight" direction.

You may think that this is a Photoshop. But I'm not sure that in 1949, Pablo Picasso can use the Photoshop =)

First time I heard about freezelight was in 2009. I was at master class in photography. We were told about this new direction in photography. To begin Freezelight you need a few basic tools: camera, light source and the author's fantasy. Looking at the photos, I was amazed. I thought this is magic. Some of the pictures are charming. They attract the sight. Here are some of them.

When I come home, I immediately tried to take some photos. The first pictures were simple and uninteresting, but I was satisfied of them.

Unfortunately, at the store is very small range of lanterns, so I started to create new flashlights. I thought that it is possible to draw by my own hands. Quite so, I started the freezelight.

Then I said about freezelight to my friends and after that we walked together around night city and create new photos.

When I heard about steemit I decided to make a new photo series.

«It's me»

«Hi Steemit»

Sometimes you can take about hundred photos to make the right one. It takes a lot of time. You can work for the whole night, but take only one photo. But one successful photo is totally great.

There is my old photos.

I had an inspiration from many photographers who work in Freezelight style. I want to tell you about some of them.

Simon Berger

Lapp-pro

Eric Pare

Gareth Brooks

And the Russian project.

I will be glad if you enjoyed, also if you send comment. I will answer to all of you questions.

Next time I want to talk about how to take pictures in Freezelight style.

P.S. If you are think that you need professional camera, you are wrong. You can also use a usual camera.

That's awsome! Might shedding some light (get it?) on how exactly to start practicing this?

I will post an article about how to make freezelight in a few days

@steve-walschot Start with a tripod and of course it has to be dark. Slow Your shutter speed way down, until it is open for 2 - 3 seconds. That is a good starting point. Find a highway with cars, those are always the easiest to start with. You will have to adjust your ISO and aperture. But the trick is in the long exposure. You might need 5 or 10 seconds or longer depending on the intricacy of you "freeze light" art.
Full $teem ahead!
@streetstyle
ps once you master vehicles moving then you take a flashlight or a laser and draw in the sky or air and capture that.

You are a badass my friend...
I am so glad I go looking through these new posts.

Light painting is my favorite!

Awesome works, I did this one a few years ago with a candle.

Cheers @daycrypter

Cool! Well done! More experiments!

Интересно было почитать! Молодец! Инструменты сам делаешь... Достойно respect и уважухи))) а так же follow U надеюсь следующие статьи будут такие же!

Good post! All information at once. Note: here long complete posts is much less profit then many small not complete posts... Similar with instagram...

Хорошая статья, 5+ )

Oh man, I'm impressed! I've always wanted to try it too but never really did. I've even found some light painting how-to videos at DigitalRev channel to get the concept:

But your photos are absolutely amazing. I hope you'll post more of this stuff.

Love the train thing! :)

Excellent! Yes of course!

Cool! Something that was around way before digital editing was event thought about just goes to show what fun we can have with light. Imagine the possibilities once we can travel the speed of light!

A video tutorial would be great to see what things looked like in realtime, and what the result is on the picture.

OK! The following article will show =)

Very beautiful!

Это творчество)) its art

Hello! Thank you so much for this post! I don't know if I agree that shorter, incomplete posts are more profitable, but I'm very new. I saw another post a few weeks ago with this kind of freezelight that you've explained, and I am really curious to learn more about it! Welcome to Steemit!

Now we see steemit expansion and it rules. Of cause the best thing to see very complete posts like wikipedia. And after some time such posts will bring much better results. Just not now.

Согласен! Совершенно не обязательно, что короткие посты прибыльнее. Если написано интересно то без разницы, длинный текст или короткий.

Great post really!

Thank you! I am glad!

Wow great post. Those photos are fantastic very artistic, well done. Look forward to more posts. ...FOLLOWED.

Man, those are incredible. I tried light painting with my Dad once and it wasn't very easy, the shots weren't perfect but they looked cool anyway. Keep up your awesome hobby~ I look forward for more photos soon!
