This drawing was just a form of value study it took me about an hour to create. I started by taking a reference photo of myself.

I then began to do a sketch in pencil.

After I get somewhat of an idea of the proportions and such I lighten the pencil marks by gently erasing them. Then I begin to add the color working from light to dark.

And there you have it!
A quick study of value using prisma color pencils on mixed media paper.
I hope you all enjoyed the process!
One Love!

It is very much appreciated! Thank you!

Nicely done, what a nice self portrait painting :). You captured the light and colour of your skin, that must be quite difficult to do with prisma colours.

Good job and congratulation for getting a curie vote :).

Thank you very much! Just gave you all a follow!

Good use of the prism colors, the skin tone that you managed to achieve was spectacular .. making portraits is very complicated and with colors, even more. I will follow you to be aware of your next drawings, I also draw and I like to support other artists even though my voting power is not much .. !! A hug @eterno

No worries your upvote and reply is very much appreciated thank you!

I rearly see such vivid colors drawn with pencils... The play between red and black is staggering. I do most of my drawings with oil pastel. But your drawing makes me rethink prisma color pencils...

Thats one of the reasons I love prisma pensils, they have such an oil type feel to them and the way I am able to blend each color together. I really recommend you give them a try!

Thanks. How many colors are in your set?

howdy from Texas sir eterno! yes I thought this was a photo at first glance because it is so accurate! And to think you were able to do it in just an hour is remarkable! do you do portraits of other people also?

Hello, and thank you! I do many different portraits but am currently not taking any commissions since I want to focus on my own creations.

This is stunning, I never knew it's very possible to lighten the pencil by gently erasing some of it, I thought that there was maybe a different pencil for that. But the fact that you used just one pencil and finished the sketching and the painting in just one hour is so extraordinary.
The use of colours was precise, didn't exceed outside the sketches which made it very so precise and spot on.
Splendid job there buddy well done.

Thank you for your reply Im glad you enjoyed my post!

@eterno You're a great artist. Your self-portrait in prism colored pencils was very original and its aesthetics and concept is really beautiful including every detail. Your self-portrait is charming and the colors you chose are excellent. It's great to enjoy the whole process step by step and how it achieves and incorporates colors. Of course we enjoyed the whole process you showed us. A lot of love for you too and many successes in your career as an artist. A big hug.

Thank you very much I appreciate that. Im very glad that you have enjoyed my post :)

@eterno, you are a great artist. With only few color pencils, you can draw your own portrait and it look exactly similar with your photo. I especially love the color of your face and neck, the color you shade it look incredible. How nice of you shown us how you complete the whole piece.I think i saw a drawing book there, I assumed you have a lot of drawing collected in that book. How long you took to complete this piece? Hope can see more of your work.

This piece took me about an hour to complete! It wasnt anything fancy just a sinple self portrait studying light values! And yes my I have several sketchbooks full of artwork! I love to create.

Whomever you were trying to draw/color is actually cute. Oh, its you? Lol. I love that hair falling on your face and the way you packed your hair in a bun.

Back to the painting!! I think the painting is beautiful, it looks more like a photo. You work really well with these color pencils, I love how you were able to tweak your way around it, blend it out to create a color that is more like your skin color.

Well thats very flattering thank you very much I truly appreciate your kind words.

Is it? Lol! You're welcome!

hello @eterno too much creativity those that made with your hands great art what you do too much perfection I would say. much originality 100% friend if you are a great artist painting and step by step thanks for sharing your love @neymarth10

Thank you very much!

You're great! I like this, that good use of colors, keep the warm areas as you have achieved is another plane! Hahaha, I also love the nose, you drew it very realistic. A hug!

You are really good @eterno! Your self portrait looked like a photo. I like how you smoothen the colours around your face to create a realistic texture. How do you do that?

After a lifetime of painting people with cream or different shades of brown, the day comes when you learn that brunettes are a mixture of oranges and yellows. Hahahahaha

Nice work my friend

Considering that you drew this from pencil, you managed to get it incredibly accurate and give it life like qualities. It's very well done and when compered to the photo in your post its hard to spot any inaccuracies.

The drawn image resembled a filter from an app. Well done rendering this self portrait. You're shading, proportions, and lighting captured the reference image well.

Wow, your drawing looks alive! It is very much the same as the model photo. I guess that shows you love yourself, yeah? 😊 You should...

I'm just curious. Why the side view and closed eyes? What were you trying to portray here? Any story behind that?
