Hi everyone, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new contribution and hope you have a day so far which has brought some interesting experiences into your life! I plan to limit my contributions in the near future and publish less, but today I would like to invite you to learn something new about the world of plants.
A few days ago I went on a trip and could see an orange tree which is also known under the scientific name Citrus × sinensis and it's one of the best known species of citrus fruits which is known worldwide. It is suspected that oranges have their origin in China where it has been known for thousands of years while it was unknown in other countries for a long time and only after the first sea routes to the Asian continent were found, more and more sailors decided to export it and in Europe it were probably sailors from Portugal who brought the first fruits and promoted the cultivation in their own country. Over the years it was also grown in other warmer countries of Europe and a large market arose around this fruit, which has been popular with more and more people and by Europeans during the 15th century, oranges also came to other continents such as North America. Oranges are not always as orange and the color can vary depending on the country of origin and also the harvest time depends on the region and there are now numerous species that have their own characteristics and some people swear that in certain countries the fruits are of particularly high quality.
The perennial tree can grow a few metres in size and during the growth also form numerous flowers which are not only an enrichment for the eye, but also attract numerous species of insects, some of which have specially concentrated on it. It can be said that it is a true superfruit and the medical effect should not be underestimated as it can have a positive effect on the human organism in many ways. Nowadays it's mainly used as a juice which is rich in vitamin C as well as other important ingredients which have a positive effect on the immune system in many ways and it's of course best to squeeze your own juice for which you need about 6 - 10 oranges per litre depending on the size and the taste is unique and a mixture of sweet or sour notes. Already in ancient cultures the healing power was highly appreciated and it was considered a symbol of happiness or the positive qualities of life and it was also considered a symbol of eternal youth or love. In mythology it was often considered a divine fruit and at the beginning it was still considered a rare fruit that only noble people could afford and here are also many legends that it could help to immortality and in general it has long been a status symbol which has also found its way into art over time.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about this topic! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.
