Hundred most important historical moments of Badalona city (Barcelona) immortalized in an impressive 100 meters long timeline building. The project was supported by the City Council of Badalona. This is my masterpiece. It is about Badalona village gaining the title of the City by the Queen Maria Christina.
It was such a big and great collaboration I had a chance to participate in! Years ago! But still I almost like this piece and rememeber how I've worked on that. A guy from European advertising agency found me asking if I would like to create a free illustration for European exhibiton about Barcelona history. He said there were only 100 artists out of millions and I felt myself as the Chosen One. So for sure I've taken that challenge.
They gave me interesting theme how the village of Baetulona grow into the city of Barcelona and I've decided to draw a queen there.
Amazing Person
Those days I had been inspired a lot by Olya. This days actually too! I am still inspired by her personality and look. She is really like a queen. Very humble and delicate queen.
So I've asked her if she could become a reference for my queen and we met in a cafe for simple photosession and soft drinks.
Her dress was so beautiful. Good and rich taste! I've done this sketch after all, scanned it and started to work on coloring in Adobe Photoshop.
I had saved only those steps. There are only 84 layes in source file. For me those days it's small and brave amount. Usually I was afraid of any changes creating as many layers as I could. But here myabe because it was a personal work created for free or maybe because it was too big and I had to flatten the layers from time to time there only 84 left.
I've jumped to the heaven when I saw these photos in Facebook. God, my work has been printed and exhibted in Spain and other European countries for the first time ever!
So here is my Badalona queen. I've met Olya after years few weeks ago suddently and she is even more beautiful. Hope you can feel it from this post.
