"Seagulls"

in #art9 years ago

Drawn from the movie "Into The Wild."

”Seagulls” 8”x11” (#3409) graphite pencil on buff drawing paper
by Lee Gordon Seebach

In the film, there's a scene in which a flock of seagulls appear to be having a blast, flying up and down on and all around a beach, with the ocean waves crashing behind them. It was wonderful. I took this as a sign that I needed to freeze the DVD and draw them, one at a time, picking out the ones that I felt like drawing. Rather than make a design of the scene, I chose to draw them individually as studies.

What a great thing it is to be a painter living on a beautiful planet.
"So many beautiful subjects, so little time!"
