- Sketch Phase 3 -

I picked up today again where I left off yesterday. If you want to check that post out you can see it by clicking here. I wrote a pretty in depth post about how I started the whole process and my motivation behind this project on the fist post. I would encourage you to check it out if you haven't already by clicking here. For those that don't know this is an original sketch of the Marvel character Carnage.

I started to fill in the Crimson Red PrismaColor on top of that first lighter layer of Poppy Red and the richness in color starts to come to life. I like the texture and depth it the extra shade of red gives.

At this point I could tell I was going to spend a lot of time playing and detailing rather than finishing... So I busted out the Brush Pen. This came on and blended all the red together into one pretty flat tone. I did lose some of the textures... but that won't matter in the long run. Since I am pushing to finish and not worried about making a masterpiece I can play a little along the way.

Since these are wax based colored pencils this provides a good surface to get the ink to move on the paper. This paper is pretty slick and doesn't have much bite... so having some of the color pencil to layer on top of helps make the medium go a little further. It also helps the ink to spread and not over saturate the paper.

I was pretty happy with the Carnage red coming together and knew it would look even better once some of the black was overlaid. I went back and started to go back in with the micron pens and tried to get some of that symbiotic flow to the suit.

Once again, Duty Called and this was as far as I made it today on the sketch! I look forward to getting back at it tomorrow! We will have to see how far we can make it. Hopefully we can wrap this up.

Thanks for stopping by and I would STILL encourage you to sketch something for yourself soon without being critical of what you do. Give it a thought and take some pictures. I would like to see YOU do something like this too! Until Next Time....

What most likes me is the way you are giving the back muscles , that bright surface starts showing us some depth wich will be a key point in my opinion.
Keep on castleberry ;)
