Plein Air watercolors
Watercolor of the fountain
This painting was done in the Gabriel Miro square located in Alicante.
Its basically a direct watercolor painting with minimal composition lines done with pencil.
The light was perfect. The fountain was radiating so much light . meanwhile the background was very dark.
This contrast inspired me to do a painting instead of do a line drawing.
I put first the warm tones leaving the white of the paper for the brightest parts. Later I put some cool violet and green tones in the other areas.
Finally I add some white opaque gouache for the water drops of the fountain.
artist reunion
That day also was an artist reunion. Different painters and drawers gathering in the park to do art. And talk and have a great time. Also there are some food and drinks when you want a break from the work.
There are some pictures available to buy to the tourist and people that are interested.
painting on the beach
The day started walking to the beach .it was very early. Just when the sun rised I wanted to capture the colors and do a quick painting with watercolor.
The colors were nice. Blue and oranges. with an overall cold mood because of the absence of the sun.
I paint it in the sketchbook. Dividing the picture in 3 different layers. Background . middle ground and foreground.
I put the darks in the rocks. Almost black. The rest pastel tones with wet on wet technique.
Watercolors from drawings
the castle of Sta Barbara. In Alicante.
This day I walk to the top of the castle of Santa Barbara. From this place you can contemplate beautiful views of the city of Alicante. All the coast with the beach and part of the city.
I decided to do a sketch with an ink pen.
I traced basic lines putting emphasis on the composition and design of the picture. I didnt want to put a lot of details because I was going to use watercolors later to painting and sometimes lesss is more.
The colors I use were oranges as the main palette and blue as the oppositw for painting the sea with a basic gradient wash.
i added later some purple shadows in the buildings.
The fountain in the Real Gardens. Valencia.
This drawing was done in Valencia. Its a beautiful fountain located in the Real Gardens. Next to the Fine Arts Museum.
I like a lot to draw sculptures. Its nice because you practice figure drawing and at the same time you draw landscape.
Also I enjoy a lot painting water. This small lake was the hometown of some ducks. People went and gave them bread.
Im sure that day they enjoyed a lot the water because it was a very hot day..
For this illustration, i did a drawing with pen first in one drawing sketchbook I use for the nice drawings. Then I traced it in a watercolor paper and create another version of it. I paint it put some layers of yellow washes first, and then I add some greens to the plants. Then I paint the water and the statues.
The juice bar in Alicante
This day I went to a juice bar after the beach.
It was the second time I was there
The first time I did a simple ink sketch and the boss of the bar saw it and like it very much.
So he wanted me to return and do another drawing. And then he invited me to the juice and the lunch! The food was fresh. With salads and sandwiches. Also they have a lot of different juices and shakes made of natural ingredients with all kinds of fruits and vegetables.
I stayed that morning drawing and talking with the people in the bar. They enjoyed watching me draw and paint the local.
I choose a colorful palette to capture all the tonalities of the ingredients.
After that I eat a nice lunch.
This is the second sketch of me eating the pasta salad. In front is the bar.
Ink Sketches
These are some ink sketches I did in my ink sketchbook. There are mostly to practice figure drawing without fear of messing up. Its mostly for learn and train.
I added to this some sayings that I want to say.. There are in spanish. So my apologies if youdont understand them. Even if I translate them it doesnt make sense because I write them as a little rymes. Poems that describe in a short sentence the image.
Some of them are with color, but very basic because I just wanted to be ink setches in black and white .not watercolors.
Its nice to play with the white space of the paper and with the scale and position of the letters.
Most of them were done on the Alicante Beach. Just after I was drying myself after the swim. I choose some victims to portray Lol.
This one above reads like this...* There is always distraction.in the shadows or in the sun.*

Digital Art
This painting was created as a sketch first on location.
I choose this beautiful view of the citt to create this style of graphic art.
The lines with ink later I scanned it and painted with Procreate for the Ipad. You can see the process below.
The ink sketch on location.
Video.process
For this illustration I followed the same process. Started as a sketch, digitally painted later.
