BEASTLY TALES
THE BUNGEE JUMPER
Hubert Humper was a Bungee Jumper,
He got such a vicarious thrill,
Acting the part of a rubber band dill,
At least that is what some might think,
Jumping with a rubber band did stink.
But to each his own we must recall.
Some, with a rubber band, liked to fall,
To within a few feet of the ground,
A new excitement has been found.
Then to spring back up with a bounce,
And down again, another chance,
To knock your noggin on the floor,
Missed again, oh, what a bore.
Mostly, they drop them over water,
Much safer, just as they oughta.
Now Hubert thought up a business idea.
Of a new notion he never had fear.
Extreme sports seem to be more popular for scary daunts.
So why not organize special interest jaunts.
In this case, for Bungee Jumping,
It sure would keep the adrenalin pumping.
Australia, New Zealand, India too.
Perhaps in North America, Kalamazoo.
And, perhaps, for an extra grand,
They could take their own rubber band.
That, of course, if one of the most significant points.
The durability and strength of bungee cord joints.
For to have your weight, and life too,
Dependant upon the strength of rubbery goo.
For a thinking person, it’d make you stew.
Nevertheless, his tour planning went ahead.
Hubert had the concept fixed in his head,
He soon had a group of at least thirty two,
Who thought it time that through the air they flew.
Defying relatives voices of reason,
Off they went to South Island, New Zealand.
“Bungee, Bungee, Bungee,” rang through the mountain,
And there was the instructor, on a scaffold counting.
“Off you go, into the air,”
The jumper, pop-eyed did stare.
The instructor gave a tiny push,
The jumper could hear the air rush,
The ground came up helter-skelter,
There was the river, what a brain pelter,
And so with an exuberant bounce or two,
The end of the trip, through the air he flew.
And thus the tour progressed to a finish,
The love for bungee jumping did diminish.
A point of note one could make,
Although some would say it to be fake.
A scaffold was a structure from which some were hung,
Perhaps not unsuitable for a far flung,
Activity such as a bungee jump,
Due for hanging an up-side-down lump.
"For to have your weight, and life too, dependant on the strength of rubbery goo." This line sure highlights how crazy it is!
