BEASTLY TALES
OXYMORON
A figure of speech,
A conjunction of contradictions to breach,
Could be, if you insist,
A “cheerful pessimist!”
Not all that ghoulish,
But pointedly foolish.
Such, indeed, is an Oxymoron,
An inflammatory name, petrol to pour on,
A fire, blazing away,
Yes, inflammatory, what more can one say.
Edison Lightbulb couldn’t define Oxymoron,
Although, with some frequency, he’d been called a poxymoron!
“An intelligent idiot,” now there’s another!
Oxymoron's abound, enough to smother.
Oxymoron has its derivations from Greek,
Here is the breakdown, if truth you do seek.
OXUS means sharp. MOROS means dull,
The combination one can ponder or mull.
This admixture derives from it’s source,
And today provides intriguement, of course.
What could be more intriguing than this word.
Oxymoron. It sounds quite banal, absurd.
It surely invites usage where-ever one can.
A “happy sad-sack”. There we go again.
These Oxymoron can be ingrained in the brain!
Therefore, from further usage we will refrain.
Another Oxymoron again!
It is “falsely true,”
Another oxymoron for you!
