JELLYFISH STING

Scientists say that for millions of years,
Jellyfish have survived, without too many fears.
Others of the scientific persuasion,
Ignoring the fact that thousands constitute an invasion
Say that this sometimes pugnacious creature,
Has no brain, in fact, a redeeming feature.
So, surviving so long without a brain,
Allows some people today, to sing a happy refrain.
“If jellyfish can do it, then so can we!”
“Although we live on land, and they live in the sea.”

Some jellyfish, like the Portuguese Man O’ War,
Can sting most painfully, right down to the core.
Others can be deadly, the Box Jellyfish,
Can kill you, if inadvertently in their tentacles swish!
And yet some turtles can dine with impunity,
It appears they have, against their toxins immunity.

Said Olga Offal to her spouse, with a groan,
“You are lazy and weak, no backbone you’re prone.”
“A spineless creature, no gumption you have.”
“There you are, like a jellyfish, afloat in your bath!”
Oscar Offal thought this was really too much!
“Stay away, a sting you’ll get if you do touch!”
With shock, that Offal wife did step back!
Unaccustomed to such a full frontal attack!

One who is intelligent is full of doubt,
A stupid one can be a confident lout.
