3ft tall ninja turtle drawn on a piece of recycled paper!

montage_1.jpg
approximately 1m or 3ft high

I salvaged some packaging that came stuffed in a box of leather care cream from the UK. They’d scrunched up this length of thick, rough surfaced paper to fill the empty space in the box to stop the jar of cream from bouncing around when in transit (Connolly's hide care - great stuff by the way!)

When I unravelled the paper they'd stuffed in the box I felt inspired to find something to use it for, rather than tossing it in the recycling bin.

Living with @girlbeforemorror tends to rub off on you - she’s passionate about repurposing things that would otherwise end up in landfill, and this paper was thick and had a nice rough texture to it with big visible fibres throughout. The torn edges and crumpled surface only added to it's uniqueness.

I chose to draw a ninja turtle on it as our very own @littleblue, who at 3 years of age is obsessed with them, and thought it'd be a fun project for us to work on together (I also figured it would fill the length of the paper too).

So I sketched out the outline of Raphael with a led pencil, then went over it with a thick sharpie marker.
Then the fun part - colouring in! (the thick black boarder is forgiving on rough colouring in, although I think @littleblue did better than me with saying in the lines!)

Nice, what a great idea of recycling the paper. With this, it can be an awareness to all people who just throw the paper everywhere. Such a brilliant idea. Thanks for sharing this.

Very impressive art work. A real talented individual 👍and recycled to top it all😆
