Hello everyone!! Today I am sharing an old concept sketch that I did for my 3d character. I wanted to create a superhero character but with stylized proportions.
Thumbnail
I love characters with stylized proportions. I posted a character - 'The Woodcutter' with stylized proportions few days ago. I will post more designs of that one soon.
This is a sketch of a sad Superhero who is betrayed by the people. Sounds like a typical Superhero story? Yes it is But My main focus was animation.
I was so inspired by the Megamind movie and I loved the way the superhero character flies So, I thought I should make one for myself.
Unfortunately, I wasn't skilled enough to make it possible. It takes a lot of work to create a complete 3d character.
-Concept + including reference sheets
-3d Modeling
-Texturing
-Rigging (Creating a skeleton and controls to drive the mesh so that we can animate it)
-Skinning (Binding the mesh to the skeleton.)
Sad Superhero
I wanted to show that the superhero is sad and disappointed by the people and flying away. After sketching many fail sketches, I liked this one. But since it is an old sketch, I have few more improvements to do.
I have another version of the same character that I liked But I dropped that one as it was way too realistic and lacks cartoony proportions that I was looking for.

Another Design for the same character
This one is good but way too realistic for a cartoon character.
I would love to know your opinions about this character. More soon. Thank you :))
you have a great talent my friend! ", UPVOTED!
Thank you, :))
Very nice. A shame you weren't able to have a go at modeling, it would've looked great I have no doubt.
Thank you, :)) Good thing is I still have these old sketches and concepts for future creations. And your Mula-Ana character is awesome. Looking forward for more :))
I appreciate the kind words. Likewise.
:)) Maya or Blender User?
Maya, only because it was the first I tried and have just stuck with it. Which do you use?
Maya is a great software. I am familiar with Maya but most of the time I use Max. I so love how Maya handles fluid simulations, Max still needs upgrades to match the level.
Great, I'd love to see more of your 3D work (although your 2D/drawn work is fantastic!). I've not used Maya to anywhere near it's full capability, but I intend to, looking forward to simulations blowing up my workstation!
Why do super heroes always have such bulky chest and huge arms? Just wonder. ^^ Cool sketches. First one made me giggle a little for the dudes little legs, hehe.
Thank you :)) The first one does have funny proportions and I just realized I got the proportions a little off even though its a stylized character. Needs a redo :))
